Pain after an accident doesn’t always appear right away.
You may not feel it until the next day or a few days later.
The pain may only become noticeable as you start getting back to your normal routine.

That’s why even mild discomfort after a car accident shouldn’t be ignored.

When symptoms persist, MRI can provide a clearer picture and help your doctor better understand their possible cause.

MRI safety starts before the scan.

All external items, including jewelry, phones, wallets, keys, mobility aids, and personal belongings, must be removed before entering the MRI area. They must remain outside the scan room during your exam.

Even the smallest ferromagnetic objects may pose a significant hazard to patients and MRI personnel.

Before your scan, a member of our team will review everything with you to make sure you’re fully prepared.

If you’re unsure whether an item can be brought into the MRI room, simply ask a member of our staff before your appointment.

Why might a doctor order an X-ray first?

An X-ray allows your doctor to quickly evaluate your bones and joint alignment. This is especially important if you’ve experienced an injury, such as a fall or car accident, or if you’re dealing with pain in a specific area.

An X-ray can reveal signs of injury and help your provider determine whether additional imaging, such as MRI, is needed to provide more detailed information.

CFL Diagnostic is here to help you with expert imaging and compassionate care in Orlando.

MRI may be recommended when a doctor needs more detailed view of the body’s internal structures including muscles, joints, ligaments, and other specific organs and tissues.

MRI can provide valuable information when a patient is experiencing:

• Suspected ligament, tendon, or muscle injuries

• Joint pain and limited range of motion

• Persistent back or neck pain

• Headaches and neurological disorders

• Symptoms that require further evaluation after an X-ray

Need an MRI? Our team at CFL Diagnostic is here to support you and make your imaging experience truly exceptional.

3 symptoms after a car accident that may require an MRI

After an accident, it may seem like everything is fine. 🙆

However, some injuries do not appear right away and may develop a day or even several days later. ❗️

Pay attention to these symptoms:

1. Neck or back pain
Even if the pain is mild, it may be more than just a bruise and could indicate an injury that should be evaluated.

2. Headaches or dizziness
These symptoms are often underestimated, even though they may be related to an injury sustained in the accident.

3. Numbness or tingling
In the arms or legs, these sensations may indicate that nerves have been affected.

When it comes to injuries, choosing the right imaging method is important for getting a complete picture. 🩻

X-rays are excellent for evaluating bones, but they do not provide detailed information about soft tissues. MRI, on the other hand, allows doctors to examine ligaments, muscles, nerves, and blood vessels — areas where the source of pain after a car accident is often found.

In addition, MRI does not use ionizing radiation. Instead, it relies on a magnetic field and radio waves, making it suitable even when repeat imaging is needed.

Thanks to its high level of detail, MRI helps physicians evaluate structures from multiple angles and make a more accurate diagnosis. 😉

Being nervous before an MRI is completely normal, but how can you manage the stress?

Many people experience anxiety before their first MRI, but a few simple steps can help you feel more
at ease.

✔️Don’t hesitate to ask questions. Knowing what happens during the procedure can help
reduce uncertainty and make you feel more confident.

✔️Focus on your breathing. Slow, deep breaths can help calm your mind, reduce anxiety,
and keep you relaxed throughout the exam.

✔️Bring someone with you if you’re feeling anxious. Having a friend or family member
accompany you before your appointment can provide reassurance and emotional
support.

🫂A little preparation can go a long way in making your MRI experience more comfortable and stress-free.

Many people believe that MRI uses X-ray radiation, but this is a common misconception.

In reality, MRI does not use ionizing radiation. Instead, it uses a powerful magnetic field and radio waves to create detailed images of the body. Because of this, MRI is considered a safe imaging method and can be performed repeatedly when needed.😌
