I truly love what I do.🤍

Every day, I have the privilege of sitting across from women who are exhausted, frustrated, and wondering if they’ll ever feel like themselves again. Many have been told their labs are “normal,” that their symptoms are simply part of aging, or that they just need to learn to live with it.

I meet women at some of the hardest moments of their lives….when the fatigue, anxiety, weight gain, brain fog, insomnia, joint pain, and loss of confidence have stolen parts of who they are and they don’t recognize themselves anymore.

And then something beautiful happens.

They begin to understand their bodies.
They start getting answers.
Hope returns.
Healing begins.

Messages and reviews like this remind me why Legacy Women’s Wellness exists:

“WOW just WOW! When I first started with Dr. Amy, I was miserable. I was living with what I thought would always be my normal. BUT after our first visit, I knew my life would only get better. She doesnt just do blood work , she digs deeper. I havnt felt this good in 10 years and we're not done yet. Dr. Amy is well worth the money. ♥️

I also forgot to tell you the shoulder pain I had even after surgery and multiple rounds of PT is GONE. I didnt realize there was a correlation with hormones, but apparently there is. So THANK YOU AGAIN!” ~ Ashley

Don’t stop at day 21…
Or 38
Or 52
It takes 63 days to rewire your brain

So If you’ve fallen off around week 6 or 7…this is for you.

I see it all the time with the women I work with. You start strong. You’re moving your body, you’re feeding yourself well, you’re finally prioritizing you. And then around six or seven weeks in… it fades. And you think you failed.

You didn’t. You stopped right before it would’ve stuck.

Here’s what most people never tell you: a new habit doesn’t lock in at 21 days. It takes closer to 63. The first three weeks are the hard, up-and-down part. But week 6, week 7…that’s the exact spot where most women quit, just shy of the finish line where it finally becomes yours. Almost 11 weeks post op and I didn’t quit…I showed up daily and the hard work is finally paying off!

This matters even more in midlife. When your hormones are shifting, your body needs consistency to recalibrate…the movement, the protein, the sleep, the strength work. Quitting at week 6 means you never get to feel what week 9 or 10 has waiting for you.

So if you’re somewhere in that messy middle right now: don’t stop.
You are not behind.
You are right on time.

No one told us perimenopause could feel like a heart palpitations , an electric shock, or permanent ringing in your ears…

But here we are.

These 3 symptoms are dismissed every single day by conventional medicine. Women are sent to cardiologists, neurologists, and audiologists… only to be told everything looks “normal.”

Here’s what they’re missing:
✦ Estrogen regulates your heart rhythm and blood vessels
✦ Estrogen supports healthy nerve function
✦ Estrogen receptors line your entire auditory system

When estrogen declines, your whole body feels it …in ways nobody prepares you for.

You’re not falling apart. You’re not imagining it. Your body has been trying to tell you something. 🤍
Save this. Share it with a woman who needs to hear it.

There’s something magical about turning 50.

And now, as I approach 52, I’ve noticed something else…

I don’t take no for an answer anymore.

Not from my body.
Not from the healthcare system.
Not from the belief that aging means declining.

When my body wasn’t functioning the way I knew it could, I refused to accept, “That’s just part of getting older.”

When I was told certain symptoms were normal, I kept asking questions.

Not because I had something to prove.

But because I believe our bodies are worth fighting for.

As a mother of five, a bonus mom to three, and Mimi to 11 beautiful grandchildren, I’ve realized that taking care of myself isn’t selfish.

It’s stewardship.

The people I love deserve the healthiest version of me.

At almost 52 years old, I lift weights.
I prioritize my health.

I protect my peace (this one has always been the hardest for me however this year I made huge strides in this area thanks to my business coach)

I listen to what my body is telling me.

And I’ve learned that age isn’t the limitation many women have been led to believe it is.

What often limits us is the moment we stop believing there might be another answer.

At almost 52, I don’t believe my best years are behind me.

I believe I’m still becoming the woman God created me to be.

And that may be the most beautiful thing about getting older.

Not that life gets easier.

But that you become less willing to settle.

Less willing to accept feeling “off” as normal.

Less willing to ignore what your body is trying to tell you.

And more willing to fight for the life you’ve been called to live.

Because this season isn’t about slowing down.

It’s about showing up…with wisdom, strength, purpose, and health…for the people who matter most. 🤍

What’s something you refuse to settle for anymore?👇 .amyhaynes

80% of the population skips resistance training even though muscle plays a critical role in longevity, independence, metabolic health, and quality of life as we age, making this a risk too urgent to ignore. (Dr Brad Schofield over 400 peer reviewed paper on muscle hypertrophy)

Muscle isn't just about strength.
It's your glucose reservoir.
It's your metabolic engine.
It's your insurance policy against frailty, falls, and loss of independence.

As women enter perimenopause and menopause, preserving muscle becomes even more important…not less.

Worried, ladies, that lifting heavy will make you bulky? Don't be. Significant muscle gain takes years of focused training, nutrition, and genetics that women do not have unless you’re taking steroids.

What resistance training delivers is a stronger, leaner, more capable body that supports your health and independence for years to come.

Lift the weights.
Build the muscle.
Invest in the future version of yourself.

Longevity isn't just about adding years to your life it's about preserving the strength, resilience, and freedom to fully live them. Start building that foundation today, and give your future self the power to thrive for decades to come.

After surgery, I was convinced I’d bounce right back.

Then came my first attempt at a push-up. 😆

I lowered myself down with confidence… and promptly fell flat on my face and chest…ouch!!!

Apparently, my body had not received the memo that I was ready.🤷🏻‍♀️

It was a humbling reminder that healing doesn’t care about our timelines.

Over the last nine weeks, I’ve learned that rebuilding isn’t about proving what I can do…it’s about respecting where I am today.

Healing requires discipline.
Rebuilding requires patience.
And both require humility.

So many women spend years caring for everyone else while quietly neglecting themselves. I’ve been one of them. Taking care of my girls and everyone else’s needs.

Today I’m back to an ab wheel with a 16-pound vest. But the greatest thing I’ve rebuilt isn’t my strength.

It’s remembering that my own healing matters too. 🤍

8 weeks post op…full ROM finally and coming back stronger than ever!! Ladies, don’t ever let the world put you in a box. We were not made to fit in a square box…growth takes humbling ourselves, handing it over to God and then coming back stronger than ever!

I do a cardiac panel on all of my patients because it is one of the best ways to understand what may be happening behind the scenes as we navigate perimenopause and menopause. 🤍

For me personally, I have monitored these markers for over 30 years because of strong genetics and family history. For so long, I believed if I just tried harder, my body would eventually respond.

I’ve always prioritized:
• A clean diet
• Disciplined workouts even through pregnancies
• High-quality supplementation
• Sleep and recovery

I was already taking progesterone and testosterone for 30 years (being atypical PCOS)
What changed? Adding estrogen. 🤍

After properly supporting my body with estrogen, my cholesterol, LDL, ApoB, triglycerides, inflammatory markers, and even Lp(a) improved significantly.

This is why hormone conversations matter so deeply.
Sometimes it is not a lack of discipline.
Sometimes the body is simply asking for the support it was designed to have.

10 lbs…
6 weeks post-op after a 4.5-hour procedure.

The first two weeks:
• daily HBOT
• daily cold laser treatments
• 2 hours round trip for care
• still seeing patients in between it all

Weeks 2–6 were focused on healing.
Now, week 6 begins the rebuilding phase.

There is so much discipline in healing, rebuilding, and abiding. Healing is not passive. It requires surrender, patience, strategy, and grace for your body in the process.

Comparison is a thief. It lead me to abandon myself and conform to what the world said I should be. The world values, size, appearance, accolades and anything that points to perfection. I fell for the trap. The “if only” trap…then I would be loved enough but enough would never be enough in this superficial culture we live in.

Thank you to my small circle ( Heather, Laura, Tracy, Rachel, Becky, Gloria, Megan, Alexis and Taylor) who stepped in during this season…helping with the girls, driving me to treatments, checking in, praying over me, doing Rae’s hair before a competition and loving us so well. I’m deeply grateful for the care you showed not only to me, but to my girls too.

I’m forever grateful for growth and abiding
