For decades, our tax dollars paid for nutrition education taught to our children that supported markets, not metabolism.
Economic health over human health.
Profits over people.
In fact, since the 1970s, official U.S. nutrition guidelines have largely been shaped around industry and agricultural economics, not human biology.
The U.S. Department of Agriculture openly states that its vision is “to expand economic opportunity through innovation, helping rural America thrive.” That mission has historically influenced food guidance built around commodity crops and industry needs, rather than optimal human health.
What we are seeing now is a meaningful shift.
The 2026-era nutrition recommendations ushered in by finally emphasize what science has been telling us all along:
✔ nutrient density
✔ real food
✔ animal protein
✔ healthy fats
✔ fruits and vegetables
And perhaps the most important change of all, they communicate the opposite of what earlier nutrition guides portrayed:
**Grains are to be limited.**
This is something to celebrate.
And for those who want to take nutrition to the next level, the Feed a Brain Food Pyramid goes even further by emphasizing critical nutrients that are often missing from modern diets. This includes fermented foods, organ meats, and sea vegetables, all powerhouses for metabolic, thyroid, gut, and brain health.
It finally looks like the tables are turning toward human health, not the business bottom line.
It is about time our tax dollars are used to teach our children how to eat for health, not how to eat to support U.S. agriculture.
