Let’s Talk: Is AAU Basketball Becoming More About Perception Than Progress?
We’ve seen AAU explode—more teams, more jerseys, more NIL dreams. And in a city like Orlando, you could say it's oversaturated. But I’ll tell you what the real problem is…
Social media.
It’s no longer about player development, growth, or resilience—it’s about highlight clips, jersey pics, and faking the narrative.
Last weekend our 8th Grade PUMA team went 4-0 at the Florida Showdown and won the championship.
We played against a top team in Orlando in the final.
But here's where it gets real…
They posted the 3 games they won on IG—but left off the championship loss.
One of our players asked, “Why would they leave that out?”
And that’s the question we should all be asking.
Why are we scared to show the losses?
Why aren’t we normalizing growth, failure, and getting better?
At Exclusive Hoops, we don’t sugarcoat it.
We’re a development-first organization that built our name from nothing. We were passed over, counted out, and overlooked.
But now?
We’re the best 8th, 9th, and 10th grade national team in Florida. And we say that with receipts.
So let’s start a conversation:
Can we make youth basketball real again?
Can we stop chasing social clout and start building real hoopers?
Let’s normalize transparency. Post the wins AND the losses.
