CoachTina4U Learning how to eat small meals 6 times a day, and staying under 30 carbs per each of the six meals for health. This is a blog. Hello!! I am Tina Gill.

My life living at maintenance after losing 57 pounds, staying healthy, and keeping it off. I am an Independent Certified Optavia Coach. I am excited about the 5:1 meal plan with Optavia. I learned about the program from my family doctor, who is my coach. My starting weight was 187.5 on August 19, 2011 and on April 15, 2012, I reached my goal of 129, 58 pounds gone forever!!! I am so excited about

this program and how it can help you but I am also a very disciplined person. I followed the program to a tee, which is required in order to make your goal. This program has meal replacements and we eat 6 times a day. Five meals we use a day are meal replacements which I help you order online and you create one meal yourself which includes 5-7 ounces of lean protein and 3 servings of nonstarchy veggies. You need to drink 64 ounces of water a day and can use crystal light or other 0 calorie beverages. The program limits your daily carb intake and keeps you at a certain amount of carbs per day so you need to follow it every single day to make your goal. This is also a discipline you will carry throughout your journey in life if you invest the time to do the program the way it is intended and learn the discipline required. I as a certified Optavian health coach can help you so you stay disciplined. I help with eating strategies for going out to dinner or going to parties and how to deal with others who will try to get you to cheat so that you cannot make your goal. You and me become a team so we can make the goal you really want to attain. I have been in maintenance now for 9 years and I am now living a low carb lifestyle to maintain my weight loss for the rest of my life. Went to my two weeks post surgical checkup yesterday. My son went with me and even followed me in the room. I got the stitches removed. I got to see pics of the inside of my knee before and after. My knee before had a fraying and fuzzy look. He said the individual fraying threads are like a loose thread in a sweater, it gets stuck and pulls. He showed me the loose piece from the tear. He said he cleaned all of it out. I do have a very minimal amount of arthritis and he said thatโ€™s normal for my age, which is 61. I still got a week before I am allowed in my pool. I have gone to 5 physical therapies so far. I got one more tomorrow. He said at this point it is up to me if I want to continue physical therapy. He said you can exercise at home. Im soon going to use my own exercise bike again. Ive been using their bike each session. I am going back to work on Monday. He said if there is anything I cannot do and I need a note, let him know he will give me whatever I need. Otherwise, I have no limitations. On Memorial weekend, I went to two greenhouses and purchased garden plants. My husband dug the holes and I stooped and planted. I went to church and I walked all around the Ross Park Mall and got 8000 steps. The therapist asked was I sore? Did my knee swell? Its hard for me to determine pain now because the last 3 weeks before surgery, pain was probably 8 of 10. Since surgery, Im more tight and stiff than in pain. The exercises help me feel better and able to move better. Yesterday, my leg bend measurement was the same as my nonsurgical leg so I made the goal of going from 90 to 135. I appreciate all the help and everything everyone has done to help me during this time. I thanked the doctor for helping me yesterday. Tomorrow, I will thank the therapist for all his help. The therapist said I am ready to return to work. I still have one more orthopedic appointment in one month, then my 6 weeks will be done. Then, I hope to get back on my ebike and visit some trails. With working, the days I can go are limited. My manager had to manually make my schedule because when you are on a leave, you are taken out of the system and she couldnโ€™t see my availability so she looked at my past schedules so she could tell me on the phone my schedule for two weeks. She wants me to change my availability for summer to start at 8 am instead of 9 since it is still light out in summer. Anyways, looking forward to seeing everyone on Monday! I bought myself a stainless steel thermos so I can enjoy some of my hot soups I make as part of my meals I take. My son told me after he saw my knee pics that I made the right decision. The supervisor who assessed me on my first day of physical therapy told me it would not have gotten better because where the loose piece was, it had no blood supply and would not heal without surgery! Im happy I had the procedure. ๐Ÿ˜Š๐ŸŒˆ๐ŸŽˆ

While I am resting in my recliner, Ive been hanging out with Jacob, The Carpetbagger on youtube. He goes to roadside attractions, museums, gift shops, haunted houses, fairs and has been to all 50 states and a couple countries. He takes train rides, goes by car and plane. His fiance is jennypenny on youtube and am watching some of her videos too. She collects toys from gift shops. It has been interesting learning their story. Im traveling while I am sitting still and seeing new places. He took me to three amusement parks in his videos the day before my surgery. Watching that was better than worrying. At church yesterday, one guy made his confirmation named Jacob. Then at crackerbarrel, my granddaughter took me to the toy part of the gift shop and showed me small stuffed animals and called it what Jen calls them and that word was not anywhere on the tag. Its always interesting when stuff shows up in your world from places you spend your time and things you learn.

Yesterday was 5 days from arthroscopic meniscal knee surgery of my left knee. My first day to stand and walk longer distances. I got my hair colored which requires me to use a bathroom in my basement family room going up and down 13 steps. My husband did the setup, carried down the supplies, but felt much better with fresh hair color. I was five days delayed. I went to church, walked from parking lot, walked to communion from the last seat in the back which is downhill and uphill back to my seat. Met my kids and granddaughters there and afterwards went to crackerbarrel for dinner, walked from parking lot. I feel like if I didnt go to physical therapy plus do my five exercises twice a day they gave me I would not be walking this fast. I feel like I fell and skinned up my knee. My husband says today day 6, I am pointing my foot correctly when I walk. Tomorrow, my husband goes back to work. He took a week off to help me. He saved me from walking up and down 13 steps which I do a lot in a day normally. My son will get me to the next 4 physical therapy sessions. I have not drove anywhere myself yet. I probably can go myself, but Im going to take the help while I can. I gotta work my way up to standing for 5 to 7 hours in the next two weeks. My knee hurt worse before surgery than it does now.

My husband went outside to w**d out our garden space. He comes in with a bowl full of lettuce that grew back from last year. I sent him to our downstairs freezer to get the ingredients for a big mac salad. Im not going up and down steps unless I am leaving the house but I am cooking. The lettuce was a cool surprise. We need to go buy new garden plants for this year.

Physical therapy session 2. He put heat on my knee first to help with stiffness. He had me do the same 5 exercises. Instead of 20 each, he increased to 30 each. He added a weight to the leg lifts. Then, he took me to a thigh lifting machine where you push up and down with your feet on a platform. He guessed a weight probably at least 30 pounds, another 30 of those. Then he took me to a bike similar to my proform bike I have at home, put it on 7 and told me to pedal for 6 minutes. The guy I had last time and this guy both said I am doing really well. I told them I do exercise and I ride a bike. I lift weights. Im not new to the exercise world. My leg measurement today went from 115 last time to today 128 with a goal of 135. I did do the home exercises. Ive always wanted a personal trainer. I get 4 more sessions with one. Im not using crutches. I went with my husband to Eat N Park for breakfast after therapy before returning home to my recliner chair.

Had my arthroscopy of my left knee. The loose flap tear piece was removed and my knee was smoothed out. I had the procedure this past Monday. I had to be there for 9:30 am but my surgery was at 11:30 am. I was awake in recovery at 12:20 pm. I was on my way home by 1:30. The meal they fed me was awful in that my choices were sugar pop, gingerale and coke and graham crackers or saltines. I figured I probably needed sugar so I had gingerale and graham crackers. I went home and made an appointment for physical therapy which I started at 1 pm on wednesday. The guy assessing me took off my bandages. I told him I am allowed to remove in 48 hours then I need to clean with alcohol and cover with band-aids. My appointment was right at the 48 hour mark. He said he would do it for me. He helped me do these five exercises then gave me papers to bring home. I do them two times a day. Next PT is tomorrow at 8 am. I have six sessions total, two per week. I started at 90 degrees range of motion. The exercises got me to 115 degrees of motion. The goal is 135 degrees to match my other leg. I got some work to do but I feel a bit better already from starting the exercises. I stopped the pain medicine. Im mostly stiff not really any pain. I managed to get a pork roast, carrots and potatoes in the instant pot, hubby helped, for dinner today cooked.

The shopping baskets were almost as tall as me! Me at work in my work area. Sometimes I watch and help at the self checkouts. Sometimes, I work in the returns section behind me. Sometimes, I go get pickup orders for people who come inside. Sometimes, I work at the checkout. Sometimes, I train a new employee at the checkout. On May 6, I will have been here 1 year.

Me, my husband, daughter and son-in-law played 3 games of croquette for our Easter celebration. My granddaughters bounced and rocked and even picked up the croquette balls making it more challenging. I made chicken broccoli teriyaki with jasmine rice for dinner. My daughter brought a chocolate log cake from giant eagle for dessert. Was a fun day of hanging out!
