I've been a little MIA lately here... Basically I've been under the weather. I feel like my Celiac followers will understand so, I'll share a bit. Essentially I have multiple autoimmune diseases (celiac, graves disease, hashimotos disease, fibromyalgia, reynauds and schlederma). Well, I had my thyroid nuked with RAI in 2012 because medicine wasn't helping. I got a lot better. But last summer my thyroid decided to revive itself...ive been lovingly referring to it as a zombie. After advocating for myself and switching endos I saw a surgeon and we have a plan to surgically remove my thyroid because once again meds are refusing to control it. About Christmas I noticed my throat feeling sick but not feeling sick anywhere else. I was tested for the normal things and went to an ENT, our thought maybe my thyroid growing back was causing an obstruction. Went to ENT in Jan. The scope showed I had a rare disease called subglottic stenosis. Basically my trachea has closed due to scar tissue forming... Why? Maybe autoimmune, maybe the RAI, maybe idiopathic which means no clue why. But basically my airways are narrow and I am out of breath just walking into the store. It sucks. I am exhausted all the time because my body isn't getting enough air. What's crazy to me is my peak airflow currently stays at about 155-175, incredibly low and if you look at Dr Google someone with airflow that low with asthma is a medical emergency but I've been waiting months to have surgery to fix. March 25 I will have both procedures while under anesthesia and stay at the hospital over night. The worst part is I was so excited to be done with the rollercoaster thryoid but now I have a new rollercoaster disease. People with this disease often need surgery yearly or more often. So, I am here but a lot less active. I want to go to Epcot before surgery and enjoy some cheesecake. Hopefully I find energy soon.
