“Why Tallow?”

This is actually a question we get quite a bit but honestly the answer is:

It all starts right here.
With healthy cows grazing on open pastures, raised with love and care and respect for the land. Did you know tallow has been one of the oldest, most nourishing fats around? It’s been used for centuries to heal and protect skin.

We choose tallow because it’s straightforward, and it works. It just feels right. It mirrors the natural oils in your own skin, so it soaks in deeply without any fillers, synthetics, or junk.

This isn’t just another skincare product. It’s about honoring what God gave us, respecting the animal fully, and making sure nothing goes to waste.

From pasture to jar with real intention every step of the way.

We’ve been working tirelessly to get this done on top of keeping up with the day to day work of the farm. Early mornings, late nights, and a lot of learning as we go.

Our website is officially live, and ordering is now easier and more straightforward. Inventory is limited right now as we’re in the middle of restocking, but more is coming soon.

Behind the scenes of Barnwood Balms 🤍

What you’re seeing here is raw beef fat, slow-rendered down into clean, pure tallow. No shortcuts. No rushing it. We grind it, render it low and slow, strain and filter it multiple times, then let it fully set before it ever becomes balm.

That extra time matters.
It’s what makes a smoother balm, a cleaner scent, and something we feel good putting on our own family’s skin.

We don’t buy commercial bases.
We don’t outsource the process.
We start right here and do it by hand because stewardship matters to us, even when it’s slower and harder.

Faith comes first in our home and our work, and we’re grateful for every one of you who’s here this early. 50 followers might seem small, but to us it means a lot to us.

We work the land, care for cattle, and try to do things the right way… even when it’s slower and harder.

Barnwood Balms started at our kitchen counter because we wanted simple, honest skincare made from animals we raise and neighbors we trust. No shortcuts. No commercial sourcing.

Faith comes first in our home and our work. We believe stewardship matters: of the land, the animals, and the people we serve.

As we grow, we’re working on getting our website live to make ordering easier and quicker… for now, messages mean a lot to us.
