🎉 Orono Commons Annual Parade! 🎉
Last week, we had the honor of welcoming the Old Town High School Marching Band back to Orono Commons to perform for our residents. It was truly special to have them share their music, energy, and smiles with us!
Our parade was made even more special by our Grand Marshal Phil, along with King Fred, and Queen Ann, who proudly led the celebration. 👑 We were also so thankful to have Carmichael staff brought some of their vehicles, along with our Rehab Team, Kelly the Bumblebee, and the Elks Riders, who all took the time to be part of our parade lineup. 🚗🏍️
Seeing our residents smile, enjoy the music, wave to the parade, and reminisce about things they used to do, made this day so meaningful. For a little while, they could simply enjoy the moment, celebrate, and forget about their worries. ❤️ That’s what makes it all worth it.
A huge thank you to our amazing staff, families, and community members who helped make this day possible for our residents.
It truly takes a community to create moments like these, and we are so grateful to everyone who showed up, participated, and helped make our annual parade one to remember! 🎉❤️

Celebrating Baby Boy! 💙🍼
Our residents and staff had a wonderful time celebrating Chelsea as she gets ready to welcome her sweet baby boy! 👶💙
We played "Measure the Belly," and three of our residents came very close to Chelsea's actual measurement and were our winners! 🎉 We also played "Guess How Many Gummy Bears" and "Guess How Many Honey Comb Cereal Pieces." We had four winners—two residents and two staff members—who came the closest to the actual amounts! 🐻🍯 We also tried the Old Wives' Tales, and sure enough, based on the symptoms and signs, the prediction was a BOY! 💙👶
Chelsea opened her gifts while our residents watched and enjoyed seeing all the adorable baby items. It brought back so many wonderful memories for them as they reminisced about having their babies and celebrating these special moments in their own lives. ❤️
Activities like this are so meaningful for our residents. It gives them an opportunity to reminisce, share stories, and be part of celebrations and traditions that they once experienced in their own lives.

This week we took our residents out to our local river. We caught some smallmouth bass! 🎣
For sure, there's nothing small about the fish our Recreation Assistant caught!
There's something so special about being outside, engaging with nature, and reminiscing about what hobbies you loved to do in your younger years. 💚
Reminding ourselves how it's not about the years that pass, but the memories we make together along the way is why we do what we do here at Orono Commons. ☀️

We would like to give a heartfelt thank you to Trisha Clinch from Flower Corner in Orono for her generosity and kindness! 🌸💐
Trisha has been sharing the beautiful flowers from her garden with our residents and staff, thoughtfully arranging them in vases and delivering them to us. These gorgeous flower arrangements are placed throughout our dining rooms, common areas, and even in some of our residents' rooms.
It is amazing how something as simple and beautiful as fresh flowers can brighten someone's day. 🌼 The beautiful colors, scents, and arrangements bring so much joy to our residents and staff.
Thank you, Trisha, for thinking of us and for helping brighten our days one beautiful flower at a time! ❤️🌸💐

The adventure never ends here at Orono Commons! 🤩🥽✨
Thanks to Affinity Care of Maine, we recently had the opportunity to create an adventure for our residents using virtual reality headsets. They got to experience places and things they may not get to see every day, and their reactions were the best part about it all. 💙🦬

💍💕 Celebrating 69 Years of Love! 💕💍
Yesterday, we had the honor of celebrating a very special couple who have shared 69 wonderful years of marriage. ❤️ The love they have for one another was truly heartwarming to witness—from the way they looked at each other and smiled, to the joy they shared with their family.
As they reminisced about their wedding day, they remembered what they wore, where they were married, and how it did not rain that day—unlike yesterday's rainy weather.
Their beautiful love story is a reminder that a lifetime of love, laughter, commitment, and cherished memories can make 69 years feel like yesterday. Congratulations on this incredible milestone! 🥂❤️

A big thank you to Morgan Lagasse, Account Executive at Constellation, for treating our residents and staff to a wonderful Ice Cream Social! 🍦☀️ It was a simple gathering, but it brought happiness, encouraged residents to come out of their rooms, and gave them a chance to socialize and have fun. At Orono Commons, going above and beyond makes a difference—and today we're proud to recognize Kim for doing just that!
Kim's quick thinking and attentiveness led to the identification of a medical event, and she immediately notified our clinical team so they could intervene without delay. Her actions reflect the compassion, vigilance, and teamwork that help keep our patients, residents, and staff safe every day.
In recognition of her outstanding commitment, Kim was presented with an HCSG Certificate of Appreciation for going above and beyond.

Our Campfire Night was so much fun! Our residents enjoyed the music, the warm fire, s'mores, and the beautiful weather for spending time outdoors.

Residents sang along, shared stories, and reminisced about the good old days when they would gather around a fire and enjoying summertime with family and friends. ❤️

The evening was filled with laughter, wonderful memories, and the simple joys of summer. We will definitely be bringing this fun night activity back again! 🎶🔥🍫

It is safe to say our staff understood the assignment! ✔️
This week, we celebrated summer by having a watermelon eating contest. With some playful competition, plenty of hydration, and our residents cheering, we had quite a blast! ✨
