MINDFULNESS

Mindfulness is a very important concept in the study of soft exercises, qigong and tai chi. This concept allows one the learn at the best rate possible.

Keep in mind their is no rush to learn the forms. One travels the path of learning at an individual rate.
Consider the humble onion and start to peel some. Maybe cry a bit, however, notice the layer after layer as the onion is opened to the core.

Peeling the onion is similar to learning the forms. Learn one layer at a time with lots and lots of practice. In addition, look for many corrections along the journey. A correction is a gift. They come from a teacher or friend to be treasured and remembered.

Mindfulness allows us the ability to focus with minimal distraction. One can move readily and feel things happening from inside the torso and at times feel the ah-hah moment of learning and understanding a piece of the puzzle. This is a brain body connection that only the student feels and understands.

VISUALIZE

Visualize: In three dimensions. What do the forms look like? Imagine the feelings as arms, legs, hips, torso and feet move. In addition, think about the feelings inside the body. How do tendons and muscles move? What are the weight changes to the bones within the body? Apply mindfulness to this process. ENJOY!

Watch others. Feet are most important, hips next, then the rest of the upper body.

The realization soon materializes that one really needs to know how to STAND, WALK, SIT, SINK, LET GO and on and on.

Continue to do this over and over and over.

What the reader is undertaking is a life long study for personal health and wellness.

As a person works through the exercises or forms, visualize what should happen, what is happening and the end result. Learn by watching others. Think about how you learn: from outside (watching others) or inside to outside (how one feels). The body is key. Practice, practice and practice more.

How a person “feels” is key.
In other words their are two ways for learning to take place. Outside to inside or inside to outside. The body, mind and nervous system are all involved.

TO ENJOY LIFE: REMEMBER TO PLAY AT WORK AND WORK AT PLAY.
