Perfect last evening for vacation. There’s a lot of story and significance to our stop in Paris and the lighting of the Eiffel Tower brought me tears (as did the sunrise over Stonehenge and the extreme awe of Snowden pass). If you know me well, you know tears are generally not my thing. This past month…has been deserving of many.

I have broken down into tears I believe one other time over the beauty of scenery. On our trip in Kaua’i flying by helicopter by the womb of the Earth, Mount Wai’ale’ale. When we flew near the entrance and the reverence and respect the pilot had.

Savor moments everyone.

Again, cardio for me too as my heart raced watching him try to cross only to find what seemed to be a piece missing and the long stretch he had to make to cross. The first video was the last of several zips The second video in of many obstacles with the ziplining. 26 obstacles and zip lines in total. We could have spent all day but we have dinner on the Eiffel Tower this evening for his birthday celebration!

And got hose who know me best …. The highlight of my summer every year since moving back to the Midwest, is when we see our first fire flies (they do not have them on the west coast). Last night we got treated to an amazing symphony and light show.

And our view from our room last night. We chose to do VRBO’s specifically to see how the locals live. This one, we have a gracious host in a very old Italian villa home on a bit of property surrounded by olive and orange trees and more. With this view.

What's one place that didn't live up to the hype?

Michele K. Harrell for us…London…unfortunately. We may have just not experienced it the way we should have. Or? Not in the right frame of mind? But for us…it did not live up to the hype. My favorite part of London was sitting in a brewery (same one twice) talking to the staff. Sliding on the indoor adult slide. And getting photos in a Photo Booth. And we did see buckingham palace (did you know those guards with the bearskin hats aren’t always there? They weren’t when we were there and evidently this is normal). We saw Big Ben. The London eye. And Westminster Abby. And still that brewery was our favorite. The other things were great to look at. But it a good look and pic and leave was enough. The brewery though. The people we awesome. Conversation fun and light. Atmosphere laid back. It was the fave

Today’s views so far as we drive from Germany, through Switzerland, and into Italy.

I share all of these because we want to remind everyone that there’s a whole other world out there. We spent 25 years saying…someday when we retire. (Money. Time. All factors.) then last year we realized. Someday may never come because life is short. As we now see with a cancer diagnosis.

Somehow we spent 25 years making excuses and when we realized time might run out…we figured out how to do it.

And our once in a life time trip is filled with laughter, disasters, good and meaningful conversations, making new friends, and finding new things we love and things we’ve decided we thought we’d enjoy but wasn’t all it was cracked up to be. But EVERYTHING has been part of the adventure and will remain in our memories forever.

Life is short friends. And self care is important. And tomorrow just isn’t promised to us. So seize the day and make memories in whatever way you are able. Every Single. Day.
