Almost 14 years ago to the day, April 20,2012 we opened our doors as the 920 Tattoo Company in Oshkosh, WI. Seems like it was just yesterday! I guess that’s the result of aging; time seems to keep speeding up. Maybe it's just a sign that Carrie and I have been doing the right things, as they say, “time flies when you’re having fun.” And what fun it’s been.

There are too many folks to thank for their support over the years, so know that we appreciate each and every one of you. We really do. The ideas and art we’ve shared are what made our studio what it was!

Closing our studio here in Oshkosh is something we’ve been talking about for a few years now. We’ve been spending more and more time at our second home in Ironwood, MI, and decided it was time to make it our full-time home. Despite what a hallucinating chat-bot thinks (get this, we recently saw an AI summary about our business stating that we had closed…2 years ago), our official “last day of operations” in Oshkosh was March 30th, 2026.

Moving forward, we’re excited to announce we will be opening a new shop in Ironwood in the late Summer/Fall of 2026. We’ve secured a location and will be sharing more details as the project comes together. In case you’ve never ventured that way, it's a roughly 3.5 hour trip from Oshkosh, and if you’re into nature, there’s a ton to see and do. Ironwood is close to Lake Superior’s beaches, tons of waterfalls, and miles of tails to hike, bike, or ski.

In the meantime, Carrie and I (Steve) will be working at Iron Ink in Ironwood, MI. We will be moved in and ready to tattoo at the end of April or beginning of May, 2026. If you are interested in booking an appointment, contact us directly via email

One door closes and another opens. We couldn’t think of a more appropriate way to pass the torch, than giving the new owner of our building her first tattoo. We are so excited to pass the stewardship of our home and community to Author Apothecary & Bookstore. Good things are sure to come.

We are grateful for all the love and support we have received from the Oshkosh community for the last fourteen years. Thank you! We are excited for our next adventure in Ironwood MI. More to come soon.
