🔥 HURTS SO GOOD. But what's actually happening?

That metal tool isn't just scraping your muscles for fun. There's some pretty interesting science behind it.

It's called Instrument-Assisted Soft Tissue Mobilization (IASTM), and it's designed to apply targeted pressure to muscles and connective tissue.

🔬 Here's what's happening beneath the surface:

🔥 Circulation gets a boost. The mechanical stimulation can temporarily increase blood flow in the treated area.

💪 Stiffness meets its match. Targeted soft-tissue work may help decrease pain, improve range of motion, and make movement feel easier.

🧠 Your nervous system gets involved. Manual stimulation may influence how your body processes pain and tension.

BUT WHAT ABOUT THOSE RED MARKS? 👀

They're called petechiae when tiny blood vessels leak beneath the skin. The redness is a response to mechanical pressure and friction.

Dr. Jessica works with families of all ages and offers care that goes beyond the typical visit, with specialties including soft tissue rehab, craniosacral therapy, and pelvic floor therapy.

What is craniosacral therapy?
A gentle, hands-on therapy that works with the nervous system and soft tissues to help release tension, support relaxation, and improve overall body balance. Many patients find it helpful for stress, headaches, jaw tension, and lingering body tightness.

What is pelvic floor therapy?
Pelvic floor therapy supports the muscles and connective tissue of the core and pelvis. It can be helpful for pregnancy and postpartum recovery, pelvic tension, core weakness, discomfort, and overall stability and function.

Why are our 60-minute visits becoming so popular?

Because pain rarely lives in one isolated spot.

Your shoulder may hurt because your upper back is restricted.
Your low back may be working overtime because your hips aren’t moving well.
Your knee may be taking the hit for something happening above or below it.

That’s why these sessions give us time to look at the whole movement system, not just the loudest symptom.

In one visit, we can combine techniques like cupping, scraping, ART/MFR, adjustments, acupuncture, Class IV laser and shockwave, while working both the front and back of the body and spending extra time on your biggest problem areas.

The goal isn’t to throw every modality at you.

It’s to use the right combination of tools to improve things like mobility, tissue tension, joint motion, pain sensitivity and movement quality.

Basically:
more time + more context + more targeted treatment.

And yes… sometimes your “shoulder problem” really does start somewhere else. 😏

At ChiroFix, we use cupping as a treatment tool — not just a treatment.
Cupping creates negative pressure that lifts and decompresses the tissues underneath the cup. It can be a useful addition when we're working with muscle tension, restricted movement, soreness and stubborn soft-tissue problems.
But we often take it a step further.
Depending on what we're treating, we may combine cupping with active range of motion and specific movements while the cups are in place. Instead of simply lying still, you're moving the involved muscles and joints while the tissue is under that decompressive force.
We may also combine it with acupuncture, hands-on soft-tissue work, laser, shockwave or chiropractic care when appropriate.
Because the goal isn't to give you cool-looking circles. 😉
The goal is to help you move and feel better.
