Did you know that many sports injuries happen without contact?

While collisions and falls can certainly cause injuries, many occur during everyday athletic movements like sprinting, jumping, landing, slowing down, or changing direction. These movements place stress on the muscles, tendons, and joints, especially when the body is fatigued or movement patterns are not working efficiently.

Strength training, proper movement mechanics, and injury prevention strategies can help athletes stay prepared for the demands of their sport.

If an injury does happen, physical therapy can help you recover and get back to doing what you love.

Meet Travis Loyd, Clinic Director at our Westwood clinic!

Travis’ journey into physical therapy started after experiencing his own sports injuries as a teenager and seeing firsthand the impact of quality rehabilitation. That experience inspired him to pursue a career helping others reach their goals.

A graduate of the University of Saint Mary with his Doctorate in Physical Therapy, Travis specializes in sports rehabilitation, manual therapy, functional dry needling, and helping patients overcome challenges throughout their recovery.

He enjoys motivating and encouraging his patients to achieve more than they thought possible, while providing personalized care to help them get back to the activities they love.

We’re proud to have Travis as part of our team!

Does your hip start to ache after sitting for a while?

It's easy to assume it's just part of getting older or spending too much time at a desk, but persistent hip pain can have a variety of underlying causes.

Physical therapy can help identify what's contributing to your symptoms and create a treatment plan designed to improve mobility, reduce discomfort, and help you move with confidence again.

Curious what could be causing it? Read our latest blog to learn about seven possible causes of hip pain when sitting and how physical therapy may help.

For some people, strength means returning to sport. For others, it means keeping up with their kids, getting back to work, or moving confidently through daily life.

No two goals are exactly alike, which is why rehabilitation shouldn't be either.

Are you picking up the paddles this summer?

Pickleball has quickly become one of the most popular recreational sports. Because it feels easy to jump into, it’s also easy to end up playing more often or for longer than your body is used to at first.

That’s where irritation in areas like the shoulder, elbow, knees, or ankles can start to show up.

Physical therapy can help identify what’s driving those symptoms and guide a plan to get you back to playing comfortably.

Hydration plays a bigger role in performance and recovery than most people think.

It supports muscle function, joint health, energy levels, and how the body responds to physical activity and recovery.

In the summer heat, staying consistent with hydration can make a noticeable difference in how you feel and move.

Whether your summer plans include travel, golf, swimming, hiking, pickleball, running, or simply spending more time outdoors, staying active often means asking more of your body.

If aches and pains are getting in the way, addressing them early can help keep you moving all season long.
