Fasting was never just spiritual. I become more convinced of that with every year I practice.

God absolutely designed it to draw us closer to Him - that is real and that remains true. But when food is removed the body undergoes something profound at the cellular level. It clears inflammation, supports regeneration, and helps the body address damage that has been quietly accumulating - from stress, from trauma, and the cumulative weight of life lived in a fallen world.

The God who designed the human body and the God who instituted fasting is the same God. I don’t think that’s a coincidence.

He was always after our wholeness. Not just our worship.

If a package has to tell you it is healthy, take a second look.

Navigating food labels is a skill most of us were never taught. And the food industry has become very good at using the right words - clean, natural, wholesome - while quietly filling products with refined oils, chemical additives, and ingredients that exist purely to extend shelf life.

That salad you grabbed because it seemed like the safe choice? Check the dressing. Check the oils. The thing marketed as the healthy option is not always what it appears to be.

The most reliable way to know what you are actually eating is to eat food that does not come with a marketing campaign. Whole foods. Simple ingredients. The closer to the source the better.

Your body knows the difference even when the label tries to convince you otherwise.

When everything in life feels like a business to run—the logistics, the decisions, the next thing—play is what brings us back. It’s what keeps a marriage from feeling like a partnership and turns it back into what it actually is: a love story.

Our kids need to see that. They need to see their parents genuinely enjoying each other. Not just respecting each other or building with each other, but actually liking each other. Laughing together. Being ridiculous together.

Playfulness isn’t frivolous. It’s the heartbeat of a healthy marriage.

Are you actually sick, or just really lazy? The difference might take some pressure off you.

Lazy is choosing not to do something you have the energy to do. Fatigued is not having the energy to begin with. Those are not the same thing and treating them as if they are can do some real damage, not only to your health but also your self-worth.

If you’re exhausted in a way that sleep does not fix, or basic tasks feel disproportionately hard, or you find yourself wondering why everyone else seems to be managing what you cannot...that’s not a character flaw. It’s a signal.

Stop convincing yourself to try harder and start asking why your body is working this hard just to keep up.

Leadership is not just about results. It’s about people.

People come to work carrying things: health struggles, emotional weight, family stress, spiritual exhaustion, etc. A good leader learns to read that. Not by prying, but paying attention. There’s a difference between an employee having an off day and one who genuinely needs to step away and recover.

It takes courage to acknowledge that difference and act on it; to look at someone and say, “You are not okay today, and that’s okay! Go home and rest.” There’s always a deadline, and always a reason to push through. But the person in front of you is always more important than the task in front of them.

As a business owner, you carry a level of responsibility for your team’s wellbeing that goes beyond a paycheck. How you lead people through their hard seasons says everything about the kind of leader you actually are.

If you have been battling tick-borne illness and nothing has fully resolved it, I want you to know there are options beyond conventional treatment.

One of them is Q-Restrain — and it’s unlike anything else!

Produced by RGCC, a specialty laboratory in Greece, Q-Restrain is a personalized therapy designed around the specific organism driving your infection. It is not a general treatment — it’s actually built from your own blood sample, confirmed against your specific pathogen, and formulated to interfere with that organism’s ability to replicate.

If chronic tick-borne illness has been your story, this is definitely worth exploring!

I want to say something that might be uncomfortable to sit with.

Delayed obedience is disobedience.

God placed this book on my heart seven years before I finished it. Seven years. And the delays were never dramatic — no crisis, no crisis of faith, no obvious resistance. Just a calendar that stayed full enough to make waiting feel reasonable. A staffing issue here. A season of building there. Good things. Real things. Things that felt like legitimate reasons to set the manuscript down one more time.

But the enemy rarely uses bad things to delay your obedience. He uses good ones. And good or not, a delay is still a delay.

Where Faith Meets Medicine is finally finished, and it’s coming out soon!

I am so grateful, but I also want to be honest enough to say it should not have taken seven years. Obedience has a when, not just a whether.

I know how that sounds — another wellness person telling you to eat clean. But hear me out, because I’m not coming at this as someone who’s never struggled with it. I’m a nurse practitioner who spent years watching patients chase symptoms with medication while the actual driver — what they were putting in their body every day — went unquestioned. That’s part of why I left the conventional system and built a functional medicine practice that asks why you feel the way you do.

And here’s what I’ve seen over and over: people brace for a month-long overhaul, burn out by day 4, and quit. So we’re not doing a month. Seven days. Long enough for your energy, your sleep, and your bloating to start shifting — short enough that you’ll actually finish.

You don’t have to be perfect. You just have to start.

Who’s in? Comment “7” and I’ll check in on you at the end of the week.
