👂 **WE’RE ALL EARS!**
Q: Is it normal to hear better out of one ear than the other?**

A: A small difference between ears can happen, but if you’re noticing that one ear consistently seems clearer, louder, or easier to understand speech with, it’s worth paying attention to.

Differences between ears can have a number of causes, from something as simple as earwax to changes in the middle or inner ear. And sometimes, you may not realize there’s a difference until you’re on the phone, lying on one side, or trying to follow a conversation in a noisy room.

The best way to know what’s going on? Have your hearing evaluated.

At Taylor Listening Center, we’re all ears. 👂

Did you know listening uses more energy than you think?

Your ears collect sound, but your brain does the heavy lifting. It filters background noise, recognizes voices, fills in missing words, and makes sense of conversations in real time.

When hearing becomes more difficult, all of that extra work can leave you feeling mentally drained by the end of the day.

If you've ever wondered why you're exhausted after dinner with friends or a busy family gathering, your hearing could be playing a bigger role than you realize.

When do you find yourself working the hardest just to keep up with a conversation?

We're All Ears!

Let's settle a debate.

When you're listening to music in the car, what's your style?

🎵 Windows down, volume all the way up

🎵 Just loud enough to sing along

🎵 Background music only

🎵 It depends on the mood

Drop your answer in the comments. We want to hear it!

And here's your friendly reminder: if you're cranking up the volume to drown out road noise, your ears may be working harder than they should. Protecting your hearing today helps keep the music playing for years to come.

Did you know your ears work as a team to tell you where sounds are coming from?

When both ears hear well, your brain compares tiny differences in timing and volume to pinpoint where a sound originated. It's how you know someone called your name from behind you or where traffic is coming from before you cross the street.

When hearing changes in one ear, finding the source of sounds can become much more difficult, making everyday situations more frustrating and, in some cases, less safe.

Have you ever found yourself turning the wrong way when someone calls your name?

Did you know your brain fills in the sounds you don't hear?

When hearing changes happen gradually, your brain works overtime trying to piece together missing words and sounds. That's why you may feel exhausted after a noisy restaurant, family gathering, or long meeting even if you "heard" most of the conversation.

The harder your brain has to work to decode sound, the less energy it has for remembering details, following conversations, and staying focused.

If you find yourself saying, "I can hear people, I just can't understand them," it may be time for a hearing evaluation.

What's the noisiest place where you struggle to follow a conversation?
