I wish someone had told me this.
My second baby was a bottle refuser.
I had no idea there was an ideal time to introduce a bottle, and after we did, we never kept practicing. By the time I went back to work, she completely refused it.
It was stressful. There were tears (from both of us), lots of trial and error, and so much guilt. Looking back, I realize it wasn’t because I did anything wrong—I just didn’t know what I didn’t know.
That’s exactly why I created this post.
Here are five things I wish someone had told me:
🤍 Introduce a bottle around 3–4 weeks (once breastfeeding is well established).
🤍 Keep practicing every few days.
🤍 Pace bottle feeds.
🤍 Pump when a bottle replaces a nursing session.
🤍 If your baby starts refusing the bottle, don’t wait—an IBCLC can help.
If this post helps one family avoid the stress we went through, it’s worth sharing.
💾 Save this for later.
📤 Share it with an expecting or breastfeeding parent.
