Told you need surgery for your rotator cuff? Not so fast.

Here's what most people don't hear from their surgeon: the majority of rotator cuff injuries, including a lot of confirmed tears, respond really well to progressive rehab. No scalpel required.

The catch? Imaging alone doesn't tell the whole story. Research backs this up over and over. A tear on your MRI doesn't automatically mean pain or dysfunction. Plenty of people walk around with tears and zero symptoms. So why would that same tear automatically mean surgery for you?

What actually matters is your strength, your range of motion, your load tolerance, and how your shoulder responds to a properly built program. That's what we measure at The Athlete Spot. Not just once, but throughout your entire rehab, so we know if the plan is working instead of hoping it is.

We had a patient come in who'd been told surgery was her only option for a partial tear. She tried to rehab it herself off YouTube first and it got worse. 18 weeks into our AntiFragile Framework (Assess, Restore, Rebuild, Return), she had full strength back, full range of motion, and was pressing and rowing 20-30 lbs. Her tear is still there on the scan. Her shoulder doesn't care.

If you're sitting on an imaging report wondering whether surgery is really the next step, get assessed before you assume anything. We'll tell you straight if surgery is the right call. But for most athletes, it's not.

Pain that shows up every time you play isn't something to just push through.

If you're an athlete dealing with back, neck, shoulder, or knee pain that flares up during play and lingers after, you're not alone, and rest alone probably hasn't fixed it. Pain like this is often a symptom of something else going on: mobility restrictions, stability issues, or movement mechanics that are putting extra load on your body every time you compete.

That's exactly what the AntiFragile Athlete Framework is built to find. We assess what's actually causing the pain, restore proper function, rebuild strength the right way, and get you back to playing without hesitation.

We've helped 330+ athletes across Ozark, Springfield, Nixa, Republic, Battlefield, and Branson get back to the sports they love, with a 90% success rate.

Don't let pain decide what you can and can't do this season.

Your shoulder pain at your desk job isn't a posture problem. It's a tissue problem.

Here's what's actually happening: sitting for hours shortens your pec minor, which tilts your shoulder blade forward and narrows the space your rotator cuff moves through. Your upper traps pick up the slack and develop trigger points. This is the reason your shoulder starts glitching the moment you try to press overhead at the gym.

That's also why it's not really a "workout injury." The desk built the conditions. Training just exposed them.

And the doorway stretch you do between meetings? It's not fixing it. Stretching can't rebuild the motor control your shoulder lost from months of sitting.

We find out why your shoulder isn't moving right, then clear it and rebuild it stronger.

When your last virtual patient runs 5 minutes late and suddenly you're the one who needs a chiropractor 😅

Even the doc mobilizes between patients. If Dr. Kauffman's cracking his own back by 2pm, imagine what your body's dealing with after a week of training without any recovery work.

That's kind of the whole point of The Athlete Spot: we see what happens when athletes skip the maintenance. Tight shoulders, stiff hips, "it's probably nothing" pain that's actually something. Sound familiar?

We're a sports chiropractic and rehab clinic in Ozark, MO, serving athletes from Springfield, Nixa, Republic, Battlefield, and Branson too. Drop "AntiFragile" in the DMs or call (636) 224-8587 and we'll get you on the schedule.

Real patients. Real results. Here's what working with Dr. Kauffman actually looks like. 👇

Shoulder pain that kept someone from throwing a ball without wincing. Two years of nagging foot and toe pain that nothing else could fix. Lower back, hamstring, and glute pain that finally started making sense.

These aren't generic reviews. They're athletes who came in stuck, and left with an actual plan (and actual results).

What makes The Athlete Spot different isn't just the adjustments. It's the 1-on-1 attention. It's Dr. Kauffman taking the time to understand what's actually going on in your body instead of guessing. It's care that feels less like a doctor's appointment and more like someone in your corner.

If you've been dealing with pain that's holding you back from training, competing, or just living normally, this is your sign.

Shoulder pain isn't something you just "play through." 🎾

If you're an athlete dealing with shoulder pain that won't quit, you already know the frustration. You've rested it. Maybe you've iced it, stretched it, even seen someone about it. But it keeps coming back the second you pick up a racket.

Here's the thing: most shoulder pain in athletes isn't a "just rest it" problem. It's usually a mobility, stability, or mechanics issue that needs to actually be assessed, not guessed at.

That's exactly why we built the AntiFragile Athlete Framework. It's a four phase process, Assess, Restore, Rebuild, Return, designed to get you back to full strength instead of just masking the pain until it flares up again.

We've helped 330+ athletes in the Ozark, Springfield, Nixa, Republic, Battlefield, and Branson area get back to the sports they love. Ready to stop guessing and start fixing it?

Ever have a knot that just will not let go, no matter how much you foam roll or stretch it? Yeah. That's not a flexibility problem. That's a trigger point problem, and stretching was never going to fix it.

So what actually is dry needling? Basically, a thin needle goes straight into that tight, angry spot in the muscle and gets it to release. "Dry" just means there's no medication in it. The needle itself is what does the work. And no, it's not acupuncture. Acupuncture is based on meridian theory. Dry needling is way more specific than that. We're targeting the exact muscle or nerve issue we found in your assessment.

Who actually needs this? Honestly, a lot of you. It's huge for stubborn shoulder and rotator cuff stuff, tennis/golfer's elbow that won't quit, calf and hamstring tightness that never seems to go away, neck tension and headaches, and stiffness left over from an old surgery.

Here's the part most places don't tell you though: needling by itself isn't enough. Yes, the knot releases. Yes, your range of motion comes back. But if we don't fix why that muscle got overloaded in the first place, the knot just comes right back. So we never use dry needling on its own. It's always paired with a real rehab program. Needling opens the door. Your program is what actually walks you through it.

At The Athlete Spot, Dr. Kauffman is the one holding the needle. He literally created the Certified Dry Needling Practitioner program and has trained over 300 doctors and therapists in this technique. So you're in good hands.
