Sunscreen is not a force field. đ§´â ď¸
We love a good SPF, but if youâre currently having laser hair removal (or tattoo removal) sessions, sunscreen alone is NOT doing enough heavy lifting.
This is why we require no sun exposure, tanning beds or sunless tanner for at least 2 weeks before your appointment AND 2 weeks after. For clients who tend to hold a tan, 2 weeks may not be enough time.
Hereâs the truth: lasers target pigment. Sun exposure â even a little â increases melanin in your skin, which means more risk of burns, blistering, and hyperpigmentation during treatment. Sunscreen helps prevent new damage, but it doesnât undo a tan you already have, and it canât fully protect skin thatâs already been sensitized by recent sun exposure.
What actually works:
đ¤ Physical coverage (hats, clothing, shade) over treatment areas
đ¤ Avoiding tanning beds entirely during your treatment series
đ¤ Telling us if youâve had sun exposure â we may need to reschedule
đ¤ SPF as backup, not your only defense
Protect the investment youâre making in your skin. Your future self will thank you!
