Welcome to the next chapter of Gateway Center. 💙

On a Saturday afternoon, members of our Board, staff, and individuals we serve gathered to unveil Gateway Center’s new exterior sign—a visible symbol of our continued evolution and the future we are building together.

For more than 60 years, Gateway Center has been part of the Monterey County community. As we look ahead, we remain committed to advancing our mission and vision and creating opportunities for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities to live, belong, and thrive.

A special thank you to Monterey Signs for their partnership in bringing this new sign to life.

A day at the fair brought plenty of opportunities for adventure, connection, and fun! 🎡🎠

Today, individuals from across Gateway Center’s programs enjoyed a day at the Monterey County Fair—from riding the attractions and visiting the animals to spending time together and making the most of a wonderful day in their community.

At Gateway Center, experiences like these are part of what community inclusion looks like: supporting individuals to explore their interests, build connections, make choices, and participate in the community around them.

A great day at the fair and another great day of living, connecting, and belonging. 💙

There’s a lot happening at Gateway Center—and our Board of Directors is helping lead the way!

This Saturday (8/29), our Board of Directors came together for the 2026 Board Retreat, dedicating their time to meaningful conversations about Gateway Center’s future, our mission, and how we continue growing as an organization serving people with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

The day also brought our Board and leadership team together for the unveiling of Gateway Center’s new exterior sign—a small but meaningful symbol of the progress and transformation happening across our organization.

We’re grateful for a Board that shows up, asks important questions, and believes deeply in the people and families we serve.

Everyday life at Gateway Center. 🩵

For the individuals who call our Intermediate Care Facilities (ICF/DD-H) home, living well means being part of the community around them.

With the beautiful Monterey Peninsula as our backyard, places like Asilomar offer opportunities to enjoy the outdoors, spend time together, and work toward individual goals—all while experiencing the community they call home.

This is person-centered living at Gateway Center.

Wishing Johnnie all the best on his next journey!

Today, the Gateway Center team gathered over sushi, stories, and conversation to celebrate Johnnie Ivey and his years of service as a Qualified Intellectual Disability Professional (QIDP)within our Intermediate Care Facilities.

Throughout his time at Gateway Center, Johnnie played an important role in supporting our residents and built meaningful relationships with the individuals we serve, their families, and our employees.

Johnnie will certainly be missed. As he begins his next chapter, we wish him continued success and happiness—and he'll always be welcome back to visit his Gateway Center family.

Thank you for your service, Johnnie! 💙
