šŸ”—: https://equimanagement.com/research-medical/research/cola-might-help-treat-gastric-impactions-in-horses/

Historically, gastric impaction in horses has a poor outcome. Researchers at Utrecht University retrospectively reviewed cases of gastric impaction to evaluate whether treatment with cola was associated with improved survival.

Of the 125 cases included, 57.6% were discharged from the hospital. Horses treated with cola had a greater likelihood of survival: 82.8% vs. 35.8%. Non-Friesian horses treated with cola had 90% survival.

We know it’s taken a bit to fill y’all in on summer races in Southern Nevada. Wellllll……. here’s the tea…..
- Horseman’s Park management stated that they are not interested in having any barrel races June-August because it’s too hot. (Frankly, they take longer than your mother in law learning to like you, to respond to any requests for dates šŸ˜†)
- Henderson Saddle Association hasn’t really convinced us that we should write a check for their arena because we would need have a MINIMUM of 40 contestants willing to pay a $20 arena fee above the cost of entries in order to cover reservation fee and that reservation fee is non refundable, even if the ground isn’t acceptable to contestants.
- Logandale arena seems to have very mixed reviews on the dirt prep lately. The opinions seem to be 50/50 whether contestants are willing to enter there right now as well.
Soooo, we are going with dates in Pahrump; June 27, July 25 and Aug 29. Nevada Western Heritage Foundation will also have their races July 18 & Aug 8 in Pahrump as well. We are looking forward to creating the best memories together and are definitely blessed by all the amazing support we receive from everyone. 🄰 Be looking for event listings and prepare for the FUN 🤩

Again Facebook, ā€œWhat’s on my mind?ā€ Wellll….. what do you think?šŸ¤” BARREL RACING of course šŸ˜† It’s mid week and we all seem to agree that we would love some regular summer races here in Southern Nevada. Let’s put our collective ideas together and make it happen. Here’s the run down:
We have a total of 5 available arenas within 90 minutes of the Las Vegas valley. The actual cost of having just a jackpot (no add money or prizes) ranges from $850 - $1500 per day (I’m unsure of the fees on one of those arenas). This includes arena rental, insurance, and hopefully paying at least barrel setters. Even with a $15 office fee (which is a bit high for our taste) we would have to guarantee a minimum of 56 paid entities to cover the cheapest arena at $850. It’s tough to say ask for sponsors when our local businesses that regularly support the races are also trying to make ends meet in the current economy. Sooo, what say you? Do we just add a $15-$20 per horse arena fee? Would that high of arena fee feel better if it included a raffle ticket for useful items? What’s y’all’s thoughts? You guys are our heart and soul and we want to work for you šŸ˜ŠšŸ«‚

It’s Tuesday and Facebook asks ā€œWhat’s on my mind?ā€ Well that’s a great question because it’s horses and barrel racing of course šŸ‘ 😁 Soooo, we have been talking with Henderson Saddle Association about getting back into the barrel racing game and they are excited about the idea 🤩. Here’s the REAL question; Just how many folks would be interested in having some night races this summer at HSA? We would be looking for some arena sponsors to cover costs for the larger amounts of prep and water a barrel race requires to ensure good footing. We’re excited šŸ˜ What say you? šŸ¤”
