Lately, I've seen some really toxic manipulative posts regarding Perez Hilton and Dolly Parton- leveraging conspiracy and exploiting these souls.
I find this disgusting and that's what inspired this post.
If you're reading this and want support in cleaning up your media game, I'm happy to share how I decode toxic media and my personal rules for what, when, and why I post in my business.
These things might be controversial and against business coach advice ๐
but it's truly how I roll and no judgment if they don't jive with you.
Rules for myself:
1. I do not post when I'm in a dense state. When my life is rocky, I don't want to share that energy, so I don't post. Example: recently, one of my children was diagnosed with a significant health issue and due to that, I am focused more on family. I am not posting as much because my energy is fragmented and that feels irresponsible to project that.
2. I do not impulse post, I inspiration post. I always think: who's this message for and why do I care about this message? Is it intentional and thoughtful?
3. I never think about whether people will like my content or approve of it. I just think: does this feel true, authentic and important to me?
4. I'm never intending to hook, bait, catch, trick, shock, grab, surprise or funnel you. Keeping it simple: I want to educate or inform you.
5. I am not a slave to media. I don't care about what I'm supposed to do to get IG growth. This can feel heavy, and I want to feel light.
Media red flags for me:
1. If the message beneath the message is fear or shadow, I'm out. Your body will tell you- look for panic as a red herring for this.
2. If ego is forefront, it's a pass. Deflated ego = wounded, sympathy seeking, and inflated ego= I'm better than you and you should do it like me if you want to be like me.
3. If a post is referencing someone else's pain or loss to bolster the creator, this is a hard no.
4. I don't want to be influenced, convinced, or sold HARD. If that's happening, I'm wondering if money motive is higher than love.
5. If intense emotions are being broadcasted often, this feels hijacking and calculated and my body doesn't like it.
