Finally got the Proraso Green with menthol and Eucalyptus oil. Something I've always wanted to try and now I have it. For something like this, it is something of a special occasion because Proraso is one of the greats.

This one felt cool, almost burning on my skin that transitions into a cold feeling. I would describe the smell as somewhat herby, near medicinal. The lather is something special.

Dialing-in the lather is the easiest out of all the soaps I've ever tried. It comes out with a soft texture similar to a fresh tub of Cella. Adding some water and a few spins of the brush makes it lather ready (see the photos). The shave itself was smooth, soft and relaxing. I did one pass with the grain and I would highly recommend this one to beat the heat.

Thanks for reading, wet shavers. This tube cost me about $10 before shipping, so if you want to give this one a try, I would advise a large brush with many bristles.

Have a great weekend! 🙏

Good evening, wet shavers!

I picked up the shaving brush, and got a new Voskhod and took an old formula for a re-spin and got a smooth shave. The lather this time around was easy to dial-in, and it felt so slippery with protection to really go at it after months of not shaving.

A new job at a new body shop has me busy, and exhausted. Being somewhat used to the work load, I had the energy and time to shave today. While learning how to paint, and mastering prep work, I have truly missed wet shaving. The soap in the photo had a lot more butters and I could really feel that extra nourishment during the shave.

Feeling relaxed and refreshed, I look forward to tomorrow's work day. I hope you all had a great weekend, and I hope everyone has been in good spirits despite the unnecessary war going on.

Stay blessed. 🙏

Sunflower Shaving soap is back at the shop! I've gotten two available right now, and will make a bigger batch when time allows between side jobs.

With an improved base as well, I also wanted to make an improvement in the scent strength of the aftershave, so I hope the difference is evident in the performance!

You can find this set here at the shop by clicking here: https://cloudshave.etsy.com/listing/4377831035

Thanks for reading and have a great weekend. 🙏

Shave of the Day: Updated Sunflower Soaps Coming to the Shop

Alright, it's been a long time, and I now have the time to make this post. I created another formula for the second batch of Sunflower to be released right after this post is uploaded. The soap base performs better and is a little slicker. It is a cream, with a medium/light fragrance containing notes of patchouli, vanilla, camphor, and a variety of floral notes with a little to***co to balance it all out.

It wont smell exactly like the beloved sunflower, but it is as close as I could get to the aspects of/surrounding the flower itself.

The lather today was much better and gave me a pleasant shave when using a Voskhod DE blade and my safety razor. The lather at first goes crazy with bubbles and dies down into a yogurty and rich appearance and texture. There is enough slickness for an improved glide. I didn't cut myself, did feel some light burn using the Dynamic Pulse splash, and overall feel alive and refreshed. My face feels very soft as a small plus.

Two passes with minor touch-ups was all I needed.

There will be two sets at the shop, with samples as an option to add to your cart. This will be Sunflower batch #2 with an upgrade to the soap base.

Thank you for reading and I hope you enjoy the rest of your weekend. 🙏

Shave of the Day: Adopted Acres Soap Co.'s Outlaw Barbershop

I was so excited to try this, since Doug has been working hard to make his soap formula even better than the last. If you have not tried this soap, I will give you the skinny on how it performs using the DE blade: Voskhod. Here we go:

"The scent: First of all, the scent is fantastic. It smells light, with a scent of tonka bean, musk, and a nice woody base. It's freaking awesome. I was able to whiff it all I wanted without worrying about burning my nostrils. As someone with sensitive skin, I appreciate the lightness of the scent. It was perfectly balanced.

The lather: this soap rewards working the lather. Compared to the other base, this one takes more spins of the brush, but man that lather at first seems light and then becomes a fluffy, yogurty mass. You can add water at this point, and it absorbs it so well, it shines and you can paint it on your face. Although somewhat light, the lather shines with its amazing glide. Man this soap is just slick, slippy, and allowed me to navigate the blade in those tricky spots without fear of cutting myself.

The consistency of the soap is that of a cream, like Cella. It is very soft and slick.

That glide, and water absorption is the best I've tried to date from Adopted Acres, and so the name, ' Grand Champion Base' is so fitting. This is Doug's best work.

The aftershave didn't burn so badly, just average as usual. I used Dynamic Pulse. A fine shave indeed! I would highly recommend this soap!

Thank you for reading and enjoy your weekend! 🙏"

Last Night's Shave Using A New Formula

This is the one I want to show you. This soap absorbs water much better and still holds its shape. In the second photo, you'll see that the lather looks shiny and dense.

I want to send samples of this base, so soon I will finish the Sunflower batch and then the new scent batch to pack.

It is slick, with the cushion I want, and most importantly, it makes the skin feel soft afterwards. Today I will shave with it again, with the straight, and use a decent amount of soap. This will come in a later post.

I also want to add that this base, once finished, progress towards creating an updated Beeswax base will take place.

A good shave, I could feel the blade still, but did not feel hesitant for those tricky spots on the neck. The aftershave burned a little bit, not too badly. The slickness and protection saved me. So tonight I will go again with the same base.

Thank you for reading, have a good start of the week. 🙏

Shave of the Day: Proraso White for Sensitive Skin

I've been dying to try this shaving cream for a long time. Here it is, my little review on another classic.

I went to make the lather, and it was pasty for the first pass. I had a nice time going over areas with the aggressive single blade Shark. I didn't have the same experience with the second pass. I added more water to make it shine and I noticed a reduced protection and slickness. I did not feel as confident using the single blade vs the pasty lather.

Overall, the Lectric Shave did burn a lot since I could feel the cuts I had on my face. I'll go at it again with this soap tomorrow night to give my face time to heal.

A nice shave. I think a pre-shave oil would give me a better shave while using this product. Thank you for reading and enjoy your Saturday. 🙏

Progress On A Working Formula

Usually when I make these posts, it always talks about how much better the soaps are becoming compared to my old formulas. Today, this batch wasn't so good and I shall tell you why.

I tried to eliminate the airyness lather problem that sort of takes away from the cushion when a lot of water is added. I want my soap to be like before:

"...you could add a decent amount of water, and the soap shines and holds together so well, you think to add more water. And it still held."

A trait the original Cloud Shave formula had. After its final cook, this shaving soap is bubbly, and doesn't hold water very well. If I leave the lather alone for five minutes, you can see the water at the bottom of the bowl and the lather looking flat. Soaps that hold water well, keep this water, and the lather can stay hydrated for a while and keeping its integrity.

My next batch, aims to fix the following problems. In this case, this new formula is not better than the previous, so I will continue with the next one in line.

The soap was very slick, but it was missing cushion and hydration.

I appreciate you reading this post. My next post will be an Italian shave of the day! Enjoy your Friday. 🙏

Shave of the Day: MdC Rose & Cushion

A delayed shave since work came in on Monday and I was extremely busy, until today. I was wanting to shave with this on the weekend, and so it has been several days of growth. A new Voskhod, and using my favorite Yaqoi Brush #26, I got myself a lather that literally layered upon itself, forming mountains of clouds.

The lather felt rich in my hands, and I can tell it had a nice amount of cushion. I had two passes, and received one weeper over my Adams apple, nothing crazy. The glide on this soap, I think, is great, but the cushion and the slickness is very nice. I felt very protected going against the grain, and there is an extra amount of glycerin at the end for that soft face feel afterwards. Just awesome.

The soap still smells like it did when I bought it. Like a multitude of different aspects of roses and flowers, pungent, and lingering in the nostrils. This scent burned my nostrils a little back then, but I am used to it now. It has a fresh and floral scent.

A fine shave!! Thank you for reading and if you are wanting a very nice, and cured soap, Martin de Candre is the example. I recommend the Rose, but their other scents are all bangers. They take the time to cure their batches for over a month, so it isn't a rushed product, it is a quality product.

Have a great Wednesday. 🙏

Shave of the Day: Wood Shop by SummerBreakSoaps

This was a sample that was included in my order, it is called Wood Shop. This is the scent that really captures the smell of working in one of these shops. In University, I had a wood shop class where we would take scraps of wood and work them into art. The smell of saw dust, and wood was captured honestly here. You do get some freshness, but it is hardly there, and for those who have tried Barrister & Mann's Spice, there is an aspect of Wood Shop that resembles that, although subtle, it does not mess with the overall woody notes in the scent profile.

On the website, you can read that there is a piney freshness, coffee and bourbon, and the smell of motor oil. I get the image of a wood shop in smelling this soap.

The performance? Same as before, very slick, very 'glidey' for lack of a better word, and is somewhat thin. It isn't thin right away. With a damp brush, the lather explodes and you have to work the lather to get a thick layer, which I did this time. Two passes was all I needed, with light pressure. If you want better glide, add a little water on your skin, then lather this soap on your face. The glide in this soap is one of the best around.

I love the scent during the shave because it brought back some old memories of mine, and I got a nice shave out of this. I used a second-use Voskhod and it was still a smooth cut.

SummerBreakSoaps, in my opinion, has some of the most unique smelling soaps because they aren't typically trying to make the usual musky, cologne-like shaving soaps that many have. This unique lack of fear to create something polarizing is what makes this brand stand out. A soap with a smell of coffee, bourbon, and motor oil with a wood shop essence is truly unique. I would love to see what a farm-like scent would be like from this company.

Thank you for reading and if you haven't tried SBS, they are unique in their scents from what I've tried.

Enjoy your weekend. 🙏
