Multi-Cancer Early Detection (MCED) testing from Lucence is now available in the US.

Today, routine cancer screening is recommended for only a handful of cancer types. Many cancers still have no established screening program, which means they may not be found until symptoms appear.

MCED is an approach that uses a single blood sample to look for cancer-associated signals across multiple cancer types. It is designed to complement, not replace, recommended cancer screening and other clinical assessments.

By providing another way to look for signs of cancer, MCED may help individuals and their healthcare providers make more informed decisions about their health.

DNA sequencing has changed a lot since 1977.

What started as reading one short stretch of DNA at a time has grown into technology that can scan entire genomes, and even resolve DNA structures that were once too complex to read clearly.

Each new generation of sequencing expanded what doctors and scientists could see in a tumor. But more sequencing doesn't always mean a clearer answer. The right test still depends on the clinical question being asked.

When MRI and CSF cytology are inconclusive, could molecular profiling provide another piece of the clinical picture?

Prof. Gilberto Lopes discusses a patient with metastatic NSCLC whose CSF liquid biopsy identified an EGFR L858R mutation at a 42.7% variant allele frequency, despite no definitive findings on MRI or CSF cytology.

Following a change in treatment, the patient improved clinically, with lower CEA levels and improvement of hydrocephalus on imaging.

Today, we brought together leaders from Singapore’s research, healthcare and innovation community for The Science of Healthy Longevity.

We were honored to welcome Dr Tan See Leng, Minister for Trade and Industry (Energy and Industry), together with our research collaborators from the National University of Singapore and Agency for Science, Technology and Research (A*STAR).

We celebrated this partnership, which translated years of Singapore research in the Singapore Longitudinal Ageing Study into AgeQ, a data-backed future health assessment tool for healthy aging.

Cancer screening has transformed outcomes for millions of people.

Regular cervical cancer screening can reduce mortality by up to 80%, while breast and colorectal screening programs have saved countless lives through earlier detection.

But here's a question worth asking:
Why don't we routinely screen for more cancers?

The answer isn't that researchers haven't tried. It's that developing a population-wide screening program is incredibly challenging. A screening test must be accurate, detect cancers early enough to improve outcomes, and avoid causing unnecessary harm.
