I've been talking and learning about low dose naltrexone (LDN) a lot lately, and the DMs I've gotten tell me this is a conversation that's long overdue. 💬
So many of my patients with autoimmune conditions have been through the wringer. Multiple diagnoses. Medications that manage symptoms but never address why their immune system is misfiring in the first place. Years of feeling like something is wrong but being told their labs are "fine."
LDN is one of the most underused tools in functional medicine, and honestly, it frustrates me that more people don't know about it.
Here's the simple version:
👉 Naltrexone is an FDA-approved medication that's been around since the 80s.
👉 At a fraction of the standard dose (usually 1.5–4.5mg), it does something remarkable; it briefly blocks opioid receptors, which triggers your body to produce more of its own natural endorphins.
👉 Those endorphins help regulate the immune system, calm neuroinflammation, and reduce the kind of whole-body flaring that conditions like Hashimoto's, lupus, fibromyalgia, MS, and Crohn's are known for.
It's not a cure. But for a lot of people who've tried everything? It's been a genuine turning point.
If you've been living with an autoimmune condition and feel like you've hit a wall, this is worth asking your provider about. And if they're not familiar with it, that's okay. Come find a provider who is.
