I deleted yesterday’s video because I wasn’t happy with how I explained this, so I’m making another one. The tattoo scams happening across social media are getting ridiculous, and people need to know what to look for.
Here’s how some of these scams work:
Someone creates a fake account using a well-known tattoo artist’s name, but fills the profile with another well-known artist’s work. The name looks legitimate, the tattoos look incredible, and people assume they’re dealing with the real artist.
Another version is someone posting stolen tattoo work and claiming they’re trying to “build their portfolio.” They offer a great deal, tell you to contact them directly for booking, and then ask for a deposit.
DO NOT SEND THEM MONEY WITHOUT VERIFYING WHO THEY ARE.
Last week, a woman came into Electroluxe looking for an artist who supposedly worked here. She had sent him money, received a deposit confirmation, and was given our shop address.
She showed up asking for him.
WE DON’T KNOW WHO THE HELL THAT IS.
He didn’t work here. She had been scammed.
And that’s exactly why I’m making this video.
BEFORE YOU SEND ANYBODY A DEPOSIT:
Ask what shop they work at. Call that shop directly. Speak to the owner, counter staff, or somebody in charge. Verify that the artist actually works there and that the booking is legitimate.
At Electroluxe Tattoo Company, deposits are paid to the SHOP, not randomly sent to an artist’s personal Cash App, Venmo, PayPal, Zelle, or whatever other payment account somebody sends you.
If someone claims to work here, call us first.

If they claim to work at another studio, call that studio and verify with the staff before sending a dime.
A legitimate-looking profile, stolen artwork, and a deposit confirmation do not prove that person is real.
