Meet Shanae Barlow, OTR, Occupational Therapist at Collage Home & Community Rehabilitation Partners in Southern California!

With a passion for helping both adults and children, Shanae specializes in stroke and Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) recovery. She built her foundation at the prestigious TIRR/Memorial Hermann in Houston, TX, where she served as an expert clinical spasticity consultant, performed seating assessments, and crafted custom splints.

Her journey continued in California, where she became the first OT hired for San Diego’s Collage Home and Community Rehabilitation Partners. She then brought her expertise to our sister company, Learning Services in Escondido, eventually leading their interdisciplinary teams as a Clinical Specialist.

Shanae is all about client success and innovation. She is highly skilled in telehealth and is incredibly passionate about how technologies like artificial intelligence can improve clinical workflows and make a real difference in our patients' lives.

When she’s off the clock, Shanae volunteers as a community leader with the Girl Scouts of San Diego, enjoys quality family time with her husband and two daughters, and unwinds at her favorite place—the beach!

“I absolutely love being a case manager and OT for Collage H&C. It is such a holistic approach to facilitating personal and meaningful patient goals in their own home and community. I really enjoy the freedom we have as therapists to reach the full potential of our clients to return to work and beyond. Being a case manager has allowed me to see a broader scope of the patient's needs and use my experience to coordinate the team and build relationships with referral sources including physicians and case managers.” -Shanae

Every step forward is a victory. 💙

In January 2026, Roger began his journey with Collage Home & Community Rehabilitation Partners in Southern California, following a traumatic brain injury sustained in April 2025. Today, he’s making incredible strides toward independence!

Roger’s dedicated interdisciplinary team—Ben Slayback (Recreational Therapist), Tammy Leeper (Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant), Elisabeth Lawson (Occupational Therapist), Myrna Vargas-Evert (Licensed Clinical Social Worker), and Valentina White (Speech Therapist)—has been working hard to engage him in meaningful community reentry experiences. From vocational prep volunteering at a local animal shelter to whipping up treats in the kitchen during his favorite baking activities, Roger is putting in the work.

We are so incredibly proud of Roger’s accomplishments and can’t wait to see all the milestones he continues to hit. Keep shining, Roger!

This July 4th, we’re celebrating a different kind of independence.

When most people think of Independence Day, they picture the beach, parades, barbecues, and fireworks.

At Collage Rehabilitation Partners, we think about something a little closer to home.

We think about our patients who are:

· Reclaiming their mobility.
· Relearning daily routines.
· Returning to work.
· Rewriting what’s possible after a complex injury.

For the people we serve, independence is a daily pursuit.

This 4th of July, we honor the incredible resilience of our patients, their families, and our dedicated teams who help them reclaim their independence—one day, one step, one person at a time.

From all of us at Collage, have a safe and happy Independence Day!

We had some very special, furry visitors drop by ReMed in Columbia, Maryland recently! A huge thank you to the wonderful volunteers and therapy dogs from on Wheels for bringing so much joy, comfort, and wagging tails to our clients and staff.

Animal-assisted therapy plays an incredibly meaningful role in neurorehabilitation—offering sensory stimulation, emotional support, and a wonderful way to practice fine motor skills through petting and interaction. Looking at these smiles, it’s safe to say the day was a total success! ❤️
