Nebraska Institute of Chinese Medical Arts is seeking faculty and advisory board members!

The Nebraska Institute of Chinese Medical Arts is developing a new educational pathway for students called to study acupuncture, Chinese medicine, and integrative healthcare in Nebraska and the greater Midwest.

NICMA’s program is designed to prepare future practitioners through training in acupuncture, Chinese herbal medicine, diagnosis, treatment planning, medical Tuina, dietary therapy, Tai Chi, Qi Gong, biomedical sciences, clinical education, ethics, documentation, and professional practice.

We are currently looking to connect with individuals who may be interested in serving as:

Faculty members
Clinical supervisors
Guest lecturers
Professional mentors
Advisory board members

We welcome experienced professionals from a variety of backgrounds, including acupuncture, Chinese herbal medicine, East Asian medicine, Tuina and Asian bodywork, massage therapy, biomedical sciences, healthcare administration, education, ethics, compliance, business development, integrative care, and community health.

Faculty members will help shape the classroom and clinical learning experience for future students. Advisory board members will provide valuable guidance related to educational quality, workforce needs, community partnerships, healthcare trends, professional standards, and long-term institutional development.

This is an opportunity to support something meaningful: the growth of acupuncture and Chinese medicine education in Nebraska, where access to licensed practitioners remains limited in many communities.

If you are passionate about education, Chinese medicine, integrative healthcare, workforce development, or expanding access to whole-person care in the Midwest, we would love to connect with you.

Please email [email protected] to learn more about possible faculty, advisory, or mentorship opportunities with the Nebraska Institute of Chinese Medical Arts.

✨ Now Offering Reiki at Liu’s Oriental Medical Center, P.C. ✨

Looking for a gentle way to relax, reset, and support your overall well-being?

Reiki is a Japanese energy healing practice that works by channeling universal life force energy through the practitioner’s hands, placed lightly on or just above the body. This calming treatment is designed to promote deep relaxation, reduce stress, and support the body’s natural healing process by helping clear energetic blockages and restore balance.

During your session, you will remain fully clothed and rest comfortably on a treatment table while the practitioner uses a series of hand positions over the body’s energy centers, or chakras, to encourage balance and a sense of well-being.

🕊 45-minute Reiki treatment
💲 $75 per session

If you have been feeling stressed, overwhelmed, or simply in need of time to recharge, Reiki may be a wonderful addition to your wellness routine.

"Warm up first. Move qi"

When activity spikes, the warm-up matters. In TCM, gentle warming and movement help qi and blood flow, which can reduce stiffness and help the body move more smoothly. Try a quick routine before your walk or workout: ankle circles, hip circles, shoulder rolls, and a slow forward fold. If you tend to strain easily or feel tight in the same places, acupuncture can help release tension patterns and support better mobility and recovery.

🌿 Daylight Saving Time Through the Lens of Chinese Medicine 🌿

This weekend we “spring forward,” and while it may only seem like a one hour shift on the clock, our bodies often feel the change much more deeply. From a Traditional Chinese Medicine perspective, our health is closely tied to natural rhythms such as the rising and setting of the sun. When those rhythms shift suddenly, it can temporarily disrupt the balance of our internal systems.

In Chinese medicine we often talk about the body’s circadian rhythm through the concept of the Chinese Medicine Body Clock, where different organ systems are most active at certain times of day. Sleep, digestion, mood, and energy levels all depend on this natural flow of Qi. When we suddenly lose an hour of sleep, it can affect organs such as the Liver, which is responsible for the smooth flow of Qi, and the Heart, which houses the mind and supports restful sleep.

You might notice symptoms like:
• Feeling more tired than usual
• Trouble falling asleep or staying asleep
• Irritability or feeling “off” emotionally
• Digestive changes or sugar cravings

The good news is that small adjustments can help your body adapt more smoothly.

✨ Tips from Chinese Medicine to Support the Transition

☀️ Get morning sunlight. Natural light helps reset your internal clock and supports healthy Qi movement.

🥗 Eat warm, nourishing meals. Soups, lightly cooked vegetables, and whole foods support the Spleen and digestion during times of change.

🚶 Move your body gently. Walking, Qi Gong, or stretching helps move stagnant Qi and improve energy levels.

😴 Prioritize sleep. Try to go to bed a little earlier for a few nights to help your body adjust.

🌿 Support your system with acupuncture or bodywork. These therapies help regulate the nervous system, improve sleep, and restore balance when routines shift.

Seasonal transitions are a big focus in Chinese medicine. Each change in light, temperature, and environment invites us to slow down and listen to our bodies. Daylight Saving Time can be a reminder to check in with your sleep habits, your stress levels, and your daily rhythms.

If you find yourself struggling with sleep, energy, or stress during seasonal transitions, acupuncture and holistic care can help bring your system back into balance.

🌱 Your body knows how to adapt. Sometimes it just needs a little support along the way.
