I realized this morning as I was perusing the gallery of amazing photos Christy created for us, that the whole process of taking family photos is such a metaphor for life...

You try plan every detail—the coordinating outfits, the perfect location, the best photographer that can accomodate your last-minute-self—only to show up and realize you have zero control over how the teens will act, whether the dog will cooperate, or what the weather decides to do.

You can’t see what’s happening behind the lens… but then the photos come back and you’re blown away.

Funny how we pause to admire the finished product when it’s pictures—but how often do we pause to admire the finished product in the rest of our lives?

When was the last time you stepped back from your job, your relationship, your business, your volunteer work, your hobby, your children…and really looked at what you’ve built? What you’ve created? What you’ve endured and persevered?

If the answer is “never” or “not lately,” consider this your sign.

Stop. Look. Be amazed.

You are co-creating that messy, beautiful and so-worth-it masterpiece. ✨

📖 Reading has been a big part of my life since 2020.

👯‍♂️I always enjoyed reading, but didn’t consistently make time for it until 2020 when reading became less of a solo hobby and more of an integral way to connect.

📚 In 2020 I started my book club and ran that for nearly 3 years. I absolutely loved it. The only reason I paused it was to make space for all the things I wanted to pursue with my coaching.

Now I still make reading not only a solo pursuit but also social connection through joining a book club here. I’ve loved participating in that and connecting monthly with other moms who love reading, connection (and CrossFit) too.

I wanted to share this because reading and the social aspect of a book club has been one of my favorite ways to learn, grow, practice vulnerability, make friends and so much more.

Have you ever struggled with leaning into what may have seemed like a roadblock, a challenge, or even a punishment? 💔

I think we all can relate to that feeling in our own unique experiences. That's exactly how my June Mom Crush Monday guest, Bella Giardina, felt initially when faced with infertility struggles. However, as you will read, through this experience, her faith deepened and she surrendered to what God had planned for her at this time in her life, and her purpose became clear.

Bella's story is one of faith, surrender, community, and love.

This blog post was a labor of love. Just as anything meaningful in our lives requires effort and careful attention, this was the same for me. I am so incredibly grateful for Bella to have shared her story with me, and I hope that it inspires you. I hope that you learn a little bit more about what it means to be a foster parent, and I hope it reminds you to connect more with your higher power and purpose.

🏠I always dreamed of being “that house”

The one you walked into and everything just felt easy.

It wasn’t the size or the decor, it was a feeling,

Like you were supposed to be there,

Like you were always welcome,

You were always accepted,

You were safe,

And your nervous system could reset.

As an adult, I realize I longed for that growing up because I didn’t have it.

But now I get to feel it all

Because I am “that house” now.
