This has been on my heart for a long time… and I’m finally ready to share more about what I’ve quietly been passionate about for years — and what I now feel called to offer in a bigger way.

Most of you may know that I am a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist; however, I also hold certifications as a Certified Holistic Health Counselor, a Certified Functional Nutrition Counselor, and a Functional Nutritional Lifestyle Practitioner. What’s everyone cooking this week?

Have you ever heard the phrase, "don't eat your emotions."?

In theory, it makes completely sense, but it's not as simple as that.

We grew up in a society, where if you behaved you were rewarded with something to eat. Be it your favorite meal, candy, soda, or a snack of your choice.

If you missed-behaved, you were punished by not getting your favorite candy, or snack, or that ice-cream.

If you did well at school, cleaned your room, helped out around the house, how many times were food as a reward?

Fast forward to adulthood and BOOM.

We've learned to reward ourself with food. If we had a tough day, we'd grab our favorite takeout on our way home.

If we're celebrating, we're almost certainly heading to our favorite restaurant.

If we're sick, sad, emotional, we're rewarded with food.

Our brains are wired that way. But we also have the capabilities to change!

ℂ𝕒𝕟 𝕀 𝕒𝕤𝕜 𝕪𝕠𝕦 𝕒 𝕤𝕖𝕣𝕚𝕠𝕦𝕤 𝕢𝕦𝕖𝕤𝕥𝕚𝕠𝕟? 💌 What have you failed at lately when it comes to trying to achieve your 1, 5, or 10 year goals?

If the answer is nothing, then something isn’t quite right and I’d take a gamble on the fact that you most likely won’t be reaching those very goals as quickly as you’d hoped.

I know, I know, harsh words from someone who normally likes to encourage and motivate but hear me out… Well, hear Tan Ben-Sharar out because these are his words:

“Failure is an inescapable part of life and a critically important part of any successful life. We learn to walk by falling, to talk by babbling, to shoot a basket by missing, and to color the inside of a square by scribbling outside the box. Those who intensely fear failing end up falling short of their potential. We either learn to fail or we fail to learn.” - Tan Ben-Sharar

So if you aren’t failing at anything as you attempt to run towards your goals then you’re probably not really running in the first place. You’re just in a stand still.

So get out there and shake things up a bit, take some chances you’re not 110% sure will work out, do something risky — it’s the only want to learn and correct yourself to greatness.

Want to know the best way to predict your future?

Create it yourself!

There’s no Magic 8 ball waiting for you to shake it. There’s no one tapping you on the shoulder every morning walking you through the right steps. That person is YOU.

What do you want a year from now? 5 years from now? 30?

Step 1: Write it down! When we write things down, we bring serious attention to them. Our minds are hardwired to want to make these things happen.

Step 2: Get to work. What do you need from yourself to make the future a reality? Self-development, a mentor, money? Let’s get to work on finding that for you!

Step 3: Consistency. Take everything you’re being taught and put it into action, daily. Find the right tribe and allow them to push you.

1. Mental and Emotional well-being.
Food can have many effects, from feeling energized and uplifted to lethargic and bloated. This in turn plays into our mental state and emotional well-being. Some people eat as a result of an emotional episode and others restrict food as a result of internal stressors. With the correct guidance, you will be able to control these urges.

2. Social well-being.
We all want to stay connected, the decision we have to make is either a healthy of unhealthy connection. Nutrition is a factor in almost every social relationship. The decision we make in our social circles directly influences our health. Drinking too much and not eating whole foods can become a habit we rather wish to avoid. Your circle matters, believe me!

3. Financial well-being.
We are all misinformed when it comes to healthy food. Eating whole foods will not strain the budget, but increase your freedom in many other parts of your life. Investing in yourself is just as important as the rest.

4. Physical well-being.
Being active is an essential part of life. Eating right will help keep your energy up and prolong your stamina. The energy you expend will be maximized if you implement the correct diet.

5. Digital well-being.
Social media influences us on a daily basis. Use your screen time to better your recipes, connect with a health specialist, or even educate yourself in the areas you want to succeed in.
