We’re ready for a fun-filled weekend diving into the Natural Farming, Foraging, and Homesteading lifestyle we love here at Country Roots 🌿

Join us as we break it all down with hands-on HOW-TOs of Indigenous Farming, and some wonderful guest educators. Be sure to check out the full schedule 📝

Farming is family, and we’re so excited for our third annual workshop series. You’ll walk away with practical knowledge, new connections, and plenty of inspiration to grow / get out into the wild.

💚 A quick FYI: the farm business will still be open throughout the weekend. If you need to stop by the farm store, no event ticket is required. Feel free to come by, say hello, and even join us around the bonfire at the end of the day. We will be closing the day out with some live music and a big inflatable movie screen by the bonfire.

We’re looking forward to seeing familiar faces and meeting new friends. Big love to everyone out there watching and supporting — and we hope to bring you lots of great content from the weekend too. Stay tuned 🌿

We welcome to our Foraging workshops this weekend. Derek’s primary areas of expertise include embryo rescue, meristem isolation, and genetic preservation. Derek completed his undergraduate degree in Biochemistry from the University of Michigan, and graduate studies in Biochemistry at Western Michigan University. He is also a State Certified Forager with many natural skills.
In addition to helping us with foraging discussions, Derek will be demonstrating Meristem and Tissue Culture work on the projector on Saturdays evening where he will preserve one of my genetics 🧬 Thank you and we hope to see you this weekend.

Set up some beds today for some veggie plots 🌱💚♻️ the growers will be happy.

Built to last and break down slowly over the years. The beginning of a rich, for long-term growth.

We used forest debris, saplings, rotten wood, charred wood, wood chips, food scraps, chicken and duck bedding, compost, pumice, and a custom soil amendment blend tailored from native soil test results — all rolled together with the topsoil we excavated and returned to the beds.

A couple more things to shape and activate these beds, followed by mulch and they’ll be ready to grow.

🌿 Just remember that 100% cotton fabrics work best, and fabrics should be pre-washed without softeners. We will have some Country Roots tees here as well.

Less than a week away, and the weather is looking beautiful for a weekend of foraging with friends and family 🌿

Come learn about natural farming, foraging, homesteading, gardening, and so much more! We have an amazing group of educators helping make these topics fun and educational for all ages.

On Saturday, we’ll also have tie-dye, painting activities, and other kids’ workshops. Bring something white to dye, a chair, and your camping setup!

Rustic and vehicle camping are optional. If you have a camper of any kind, please reach out and plan to arrive early to secure a spot. Please note: we do not have hook-ups available.

There are also several campgrounds nearby, as well as state forests right in our backyard where free camping is common.

Day options are also available. Feel free to reach out with any questions — we can’t wait to see everyone there! 🌱
