We understand the appeal of the "hearing aids" you can buy online. They seem to be more convenient and more affordable. What you aren't told is these amplifiers do just that, amplify sound. If you are in a noisy restaurant, everything will be amplified, not just the people at your table. Amplifiers cannot tailor the amplification to speech frequencies to improve understanding speech. LOUDER doesn't mean better, in fact in most cases it is worse.
