Happy International Yoga Day, everyone! Whether you practice yoga or not, I bet yoga has touched your life in some way.
In the United States alone, it is estimated that forty million people practice yoga and there are more than three hundred million yoga practitioners worldwide. Today we honor the practice that has shaped millions of lives for the better!
"Yoga for One Earth, One Health" is the theme for 2025 INTERNATIONAL YOGA DAY, emphasizing not only the unity, health, and awareness yoga offers, but also yoga’s holistic impact on well-being and sustainability. This year’s theme promotes inner balance and outer harmony, offering practical tools to address physical, mental, emotional, and environmental health, and aligns with global calls for sustainability and unity.
Today, June 21st, 2025, we celebrate the sixth month southern journey of the sun. This period is considered an opportune time to focus on inner growth, introspection, and our spiritual practice, nurturing personal and spiritual growth. The summer solstice and International Yoga Day carry with them powerful energetic alignment, offering space for growth, illumination, and transformation. The increase of sunlight many of us crave and the peak solar energy between the 20th and 22nd of June (depending on where you live) also supports vitality, clarity, and balance. As the Summer Solstice and International Yoga Day represent an energetic shift, we discover balance in transition—staying anchored and centered amidst change. These components are key elements in our practice of yoga.
Yoga is a modality that advances physical, mental, and spiritual well-being. It nurtures and supports us through awareness of breath and specific breathing practices, movement through asana, and meditation. Yoga encourages individuals from every age group and background to embrace the practice of yoga to enhance health, harmony, and peace in our lives and to connect with the environment as well as ourselves, which inspires a peaceful lifestyle in a noisy world.
Join us today in celebrating the Summer Solstice and International Yoga Day. Check out our website and blog for ways to practice yoga beyond the mat and incorporate it in every moment of your life.
Be kind. Be compassionate. Be love.
