I’ve recently been exploring Constructed Awareness and have been impressed with its clinical utility and clarity as a framework. This technique was developed by Tyler Orr, who is a certified EMDR clinician and trainer.

It offers a structured way to understand how thoughts, sensations, and external cues interact to shape the client experience, while providing practical pathways for real-time intervention.

If you're interested in expanding your integrative work:

I had the opportunity to be at the Georgia State Capitol last week for something truly historic.
Georgia has officially recognized the arts as a key resource for mental health through House Resolution 1007.

For those of us who have spent years integrating expressive arts, movement, sound, and creativity into healing, this is more than policy. It is validation. It is progress. It is a shift in how we understand care.

Over 30% of Georgians report symptoms of anxiety or depression, and this resolution acknowledges what many of us have seen firsthand:
Healing is not just cognitive. It is creative, embodied, and relational.

House Resolution 1007 aims to:
• Normalize the use of arts and creative arts therapies in healthcare
• Train providers and systems to integrate these approaches
• Increase funding for community-based mental health programs

This work was led by powerful collaboration across arts, healthcare, and public health leaders, including Performance Hypothesis, The Carter Center, Emory University, and others.

As a therapist, expressive arts practitioner, and founder of Healing with Art n Sound, I find this moment deeply aligned with the work I have dedicated my life to.

We are moving toward a future where creativity is not seen as optional in healing, but essential.
And I am honored to be part of that movement.

We are headed to the capital. It’s an exciting day for creative therapists. Our industry is being recognized the impact that the arts have on mental health. After years of studies we have significant empirical data that backs up what we have known all along which is Art Heals!!!

🤍 KINDNESS INITIATIVE — COMMUNITY SUPPORT REQUEST 🤍

‼️ ‼️‼️STOP SCROLLING — A FAMILY COULD USE OUR VILLAGE RIGHT NOW. ‼️‼️‼️

Even one dollar can go a long way.

If you’ve ever wondered whether a small act of kindness matters… this is one of those moments where it truly does.

Today I want to introduce you to a mom named Logan.

Logan is raising two beautiful children — ages 7 and 3 — while her family walks through one of the hardest seasons a parent can face. Last year, Logan and her husband experienced the heartbreaking stillbirth of their baby at 41 weeks. A loss like that changes a family forever. It is a kind of grief that most of us cannot even imagine carrying… and yet, every day, Logan continues showing up for her children with strength, love, and courage.

While navigating deep emotional healing, Logan’s family has also faced financial instability. Her husband recently transitioned into a new commission-based job, which means income is still unpredictable as they rebuild their stability. Logan has worked incredibly hard to find support resources for her family, but like many parents, she has placed her children’s needs ahead of her own.

With the anniversary of their baby’s birth approaching, this is an especially tender and emotional time for their family. Right now, they are simply trying to stay afloat — covering everyday necessities like groceries, household essentials, and basic care for their children, including delayed dental needs.

And this is where our village can step in.

No donation is too small.

Truly… even one dollar helps.

If someone cannot donate, sharing the post helps tremendously.

If you feel called to help Logan’s family, donations can be sent directly to:

(As always, please give only if you are in a place where you can safely do so. Kindness should never create hardship.)

Thank you for continuing to show up, love loudly, and prove over and over again that strangers can become a village when someone needs it most.

Together… we really do make a difference. 🤍

🌿 Welcome to our community 🌿

If you’re new here, I’m really glad you found your way to this space. My hope for this page is simple but meaningful: to offer a place where you can pause, breathe, and feel a little less alone in whatever season you’re in.

Here you’ll find reflections, gentle education around mental health, expressive art and mindfulness practices, sound and music as tools for regulation, and honest conversations about stress, burnout, grief, and healing. Some days that might look like a short grounding exercise, other days it might be a thought to sit with, a question to journal about, or a reminder to be kind to yourself.

You don’t need to fix anything or show up perfectly here. My intention is to create a space that feels human, compassionate, and supportive, a place where learning and nervous system care can exist side by side.

Thank you for being here. You’re welcome to listen quietly, engage when it feels right, and take what serves you. I hope this space offers moments of calm, connection, and encouragement as you move through your day.

Black History Month invites reflection

While I believe every culture holds wisdom worth honoring year-round, this month gives us space to pause and intentionally acknowledge the depth, resilience, and contributions of Black culture.

One of the most powerful threads throughout Black history is the use of music and sound as a source of regulation, connection, survival, and healing. Through generations of struggle and resistance, music was never surrendered. It became prayer, protest, comfort, and community.

Today, in honor of Black History Month, I’m sharing my first short sound bath video. My hope is that it offers a moment of rest, grounding, and gentle soothing for your nervous system.

May it meet you where you are. 🤍
