Twenty years of teaching yoga. 🧘♀️✨
The legendary B.K.S. Iyengar once reflected that the first 25–30 years of our yoga practice is immature. But as the decades pass, the practice naturally evolves into a deeper, integrated state of body, mind, and soul. Looking back at this photo, I completely understand what he meant.
Funny story about this picture: it actually wasn’t an accurate depiction of my meditation practice at all! It was a highly stylized pose that my fitness manager at the time wanted me to perform for marketing.
This month marks exactly two decades since I stepped into the very first fitness center that hired me. Twenty years ago, I started teaching drop-in classes in Boulder, Colorado. I worked at every facility that would hire me, taking on any class they needed help with.
However, I quickly realized that drop-in classes were simply a stepping stone. I had a greater calling to share my love of yoga, and I wanted to do it differently:
▪️Deeply know my students so I could offer a truly personalized approach.
▪️Teach sequentially using a custom curriculum format that integrated dance and martial arts.
Over time, I shifted away from drop-in classes to launch a mobile yoga business, which eventually led to my personal training certification and Masters. Looking back, I see a full circle effect as I transition away from a recent chapter of performance-driven positions. Now, as I launch a 2.0 version of my holistic fitness business, I am deeply committed to remaining clear and authentic in my yoga service.
As I look ahead to this next chapter, my mission remains the same: facilitating intentional fitness that nurtures body, mind and spirit. If you have practiced with me, thank you for being a part of this beautiful, 20-year journey. I would be delighted to reconnect with you at this precious turning point. 🌿🙏✨
I currently have a few open slots available for new or returning clients who are ready to experience my integrated holistic fitness services. DM me the word "INTRO" to chat about your goals and see how we can work together.
