What began in 1966 as a small community pharmacy in Pembroke has grown into one of North Carolina’s trusted providers of home-based healthcare services. Founded by Howard Brooks as Pembroke Drug Center, Healthkeeperz was built on a simple mission, "Caring for all people for the glory of God."

President & CEO Tim Brooks recently reflected on watching his father leave home late at night to help neighbors get the medicine they needed, a legacy of service that continues to shape Healthkeeperz today.

For 60 years, Healthkeeperz has been honored to provide quality care, medical equipment, and support services to families across North Carolina. From Hospice Care and Home Medical Equipment to Care Management programs, our mission remains the same: helping people flourish at the place they call home. 💙

What a night at Relay For Life of Robeson County!

We are incredibly proud of our Healthkeeperz team for showing up in such a big way to support the fight against cancer. 💜

• Ranked #4 overall
• Best Decorated Tent Winner

Beyond the awards, the most meaningful part of the night was honoring survivors, remembering loved ones, and walking together as a community filled with hope and strength.

What Is CAP? And How Can It Help Families Stay at Home?

The Community Alternatives Program (CAP) is a Medicaid program designed to help individuals receive the care they need at home and in their community, rather than in a nursing facility.

At Healthkeeperz, we believe home is where healing, comfort, and independence thrive. CAP services are designed to support both individuals and the caregivers who love them, providing practical help, peace of mind, and relief when it’s needed most.

Our goal is simple: Helping people flourish at the place they call home while maintaining health, dignity, and quality of life.

CAP services may include:
Case Management
In-Home Aide or Personal Care Assistance
Personal Emergency Response Systems (Telephone Alert)
Home & Vehicle Modifications
(wheelchair ramps, grab bars, widened doorways, and more)
Nutritional Services
Respite Services to give caregivers time to rest and recharge
