Woke up at 2 AM left Eureka, Kansas at 4 AM, saw Blood red skies before a beautiful sunrise. Never really got tired. So a beautiful rainbow as I was heading into Alabama. Made it home by 8:30. Just took my time and decided I would pull over and get a hotel whenever I got tired, but that was a problem. The cats were thrilled to see me. At least they were happy to see me get them their cat food. I missed Boys and I know they missed me too. Glad to be home!

Garmin Unbound- race day Saturday. There were several races going on here in Emporia, Kansas. The 350 mile race started yesterday, today was the 250 mile, 100 mile, 50 mile race and a 25 mile ride. I was doing the 25 mile ride and the Flint Hills of Kansas. And yes, Kansas does have hills. They started out overcast and cool, which was awesome! And as the day went on, it got a little bit warmer and the sun came out. The hills were not bad until towards the end of the ride. Which I had to walk up, two of them as my legs were tired from going up and down and up and down and up and down lol. I really trained as much as I would have liked to of, I felt really good at the end. Met a lot of people along the way and even rode along with a few. I wasn’t by any means the fastest but I also wasn’t the slowest. I was just right at my speed. It was a good challenge for me as anyone who knows me knows. I hate health lol but I conquered them. The route was absolutely beautiful along the farmland. And quite a few people would be sitting at the end of their driveway cheering us on Out in the middle of nowhere! It always felt good to see people cheering and waving their cowbell! Such a great experience had a blast and glad I did it!

Friday- 9 mile shake out ride out in the countryside. Met some awesome people on the ride. In the one picture it’s Meg, Matt, Buck and I.  After the ride buck and I went for a smoothie before I went and picked up my packet for Saturdays 25 mile ride & check out the expo. Went back to the house in Eureka to get some rest and get ready for the next day.

The Adventurous Snail 🐌 is at it again. I left Pensacola yesterday and made it all the way to Pine Bluff, Arkansas before I had to stop for the night and get some sleep. Today I made it to my destination of Eureka Kansas (and my Airbnb she-shack)-tomorrow I head to Emporia Kansas to start my Garmin Unbound weekend. Friday is a couple of bike rides and packet pick up. Also, Garmin Unbound put on a great expo. Get to check out all the sponsors and companies that are represented. Saturday I am doing the 25 mile gravel bike ride. it’s a long way to go for a gravel ride but it’s a challenge for me. It’s a part of Kansas that’s not flat and has hills lol  and then Sunday I get to turn around and head back home.

First time out on the bike since getting bronchitis three weeks ago. Finally feeling human again! Took the mountain bike to Blackwater heritage Trail to get a nice long bike ride in. Absolutely beautiful weather and temperature, perfect for 20 miles. Felt good to finally be out and about and able to do things!

Lots of bike riding this weekend. Friday did an 15 miles out at Pensacola Beach. Of a little tough as it had a nice headwind on the way back. Ran into some cool cats - Dom, Helen & Pete) and had lunch at Taco Rock. Saturday I headed out to Bear Lake and did two loops around the campground area. 13 miles in less than two hours. Not my fastest time but let’s face that I haven’t been on my bike as much as I would like to have been. And then today I did another 15 miles out at Pensacola Beach. Hitting Fort Pickens again. saw some more cool cats doing the same thing- Kim, Stephanie, & Pete again . Absolutely love riding my bike out there!
