💙Time flies when you’re having fun💙

THANK YOU Pensacola. Because of you, I’m able to provide the care I want to and believe in so much.

Three years ago, I was told that I could not compete with the corporate practices. But I believed that building relationships with my patients would win out because people don’t choose their doctors based on hospital systems; they choose them based on the way they make them feel heard, and whether they partner with them in shared decision-making.

And can you believe it? Taking a huge risk paid off.

To anyone considering DPC and breaking away, I can do nothing but tell you that while the days are long and the work is hard, I have never felt more fulfilled than what I do, nor more aligned with my personal values as a physician AND a human.

Two years down, like 40 more to go!

The only thing more exciting than talking to eighth graders about a life in Direct Primary Care Practice was visiting with many of my old mentors who poured themselves into me when I was a first year teacher.

They always knew I was at school because I would blare 90s music through the surround sound speakers.

Life is always coming full circle and I’m here for it.

For every time we are called by our first names or referred to as “Sweetie,” “Honey,” even “Little girl,”

For every “You don’t look like a doctor,”

Or every “We just thought you would stop working when you had a baby. Isn’t it hard to leave her every day?”

But also

For every “Thank you for taking the time to listen,”

For every time breastfeeding was normalized instead of just tolerated,

And for every little girl with big dreams and the work ethic to match it.
