Before you add another supplement, try a new wellness routine, or follow the latest health advice making its way around social media, consider taking a closer look at the foundations.

At Grove Health Pediatrics, we believe in looking at the whole picture before deciding what a child needs. Sometimes additional support is appropriate, but more isn’t always better.

Our encouragement for you this week? Choose one thing you can make 10% better. Maybe it’s starting bedtime 15 minutes earlier, adding a little protein to breakfast, or taking a family walk after dinner.

Small, consistent changes are worth paying attention to.

Today, on Pregnancy and Infant Loss Remembrance Day, we’re holding space for the mothers and families who carry the love of a child they didn’t get to hold long enough.

We know that every experience of loss is different, and that grief doesn’t follow a timeline. For some, it’s a loss they speak about often. For others, it’s something they carry quietly.

If you’d like to, we invite you to share a name, a memory, or a simple 🤍 in the comments. And if you’d rather keep your remembrance private, please know that you’re held in our thoughts, too.

With love, from all of us at Grove Health Pediatrics. 🤍

You don’t need a brand-new wellness routine for fall.

Start with what your family is already doing.

🍎 Add apples or another seasonal food to something you already eat.

🌤 Get outside when you can.

🌙 Notice if changing daylight means everyone could adjust to an earlier bedtime.

🚶 Take a walk after dinner.

🤍 Protect one small point of connection in the day.

That’s the Seasonal Shift approach at Grove Health: notice what’s changing, return to the foundations, and work with your family’s real life.

Pick one. Make it an anchor. Then ask how you could make it 10% better.

That’s plenty for now. Happy Autumn! 🍂

September is a month of transition.

The light is changing. Our schedules have shifted. Even if the weather still feels like summer, the season is beginning to turn.

Our habits can shift with it.

At Grove Health Pediatrics, seasonal health doesn’t mean adding a long list of things you should be doing. It’s noticing what’s changing around your family and making small adjustments that support what’s ahead.

Maybe bedtime needs a little more attention. Maybe you’re getting outside while the evenings are still long enough. Maybe fall foods begin finding their way onto the table.

Choose one anchor for the season and make it 10% better.

Small adjustments now can help create a steadier foundation for the months ahead.

Supporting instead of fixing can look surprisingly simple.

It might mean clearing the calendar for the afternoon.

Making a familiar dinner.

Sitting together on the couch.

Getting outside for a little while.

Keeping bedtime predictable.

Or calling someone you trust when you’re not sure whether it’s time to do more.

The goal isn’t to ignore what’s happening. It’s to resist the pressure to solve everything immediately.

Sometimes the most helpful thing we can do is create the conditions for our children to move through a hard season feeling safe, supported, and connected.

Come back to an anchor. Make the day 10% easier. Then see what tomorrow brings.

When our child isn’t feeling well or something feels off, it’s easy to get caught in the loop:

What caused this? What did we miss? What should we change? How do we make it stop?

Sometimes those questions are important.

But sometimes there’s no immediate fix. There’s simply a process that needs time—and a child who needs support while they move through it.

At Grove Health Pediatrics, we want families to feel confident knowing the difference between something that needs attention and something that needs time.

You don’t have to make every hard thing disappear.

Sometimes the question is simply: What does my child need from me while we’re here? And then do that really well. 💕

It can be hard to trust the things you’re doing when you can’t see an immediate change.

Especially when it’s your child.

We want reassurance that the earlier bedtime, better meals, extra support, appointments, boundaries, or changes we’ve made are actually *working.*

But so much of health is built quietly, through consistency over time.

If you’re in a season where progress feels slow, keep coming back to the things you know matter. Protect your anchors. Look for the 10% better instead of the complete fix.

And remember: not all progress is visible right away.

Sometimes staying the course is the work. Cheering you on 💛

Have you read this week’s newsletter?

This month, we’re talking about staying the course—especially in those moments when progress feels slow, things seem to get worse before they get better, or you’re wondering if what you’re doing is actually working.

Sometimes health isn’t about finding the next thing to try. Sometimes it’s about giving the body time, staying curious, and continuing with the small things that are already helping.

As parents, we’re often searching for the next thing that will help our children sleep better, focus more easily, or have steadier energy.
Sometimes the answer isn’t adding something new.
It’s returning to something we’ve always had.
Morning light is one of the simplest ways to support your body’s natural rhythms. Just a few minutes outside after waking helps tell the brain, “It’s time to be awake.” That signal doesn’t just affect the morning—it also helps prepare the body for restful sleep later that night.
It doesn’t have to be complicated.
Drink your coffee on the porch.
Walk the dog.
Eat breakfast outside.
Stand in the sunshine before the day begins.
Small habits, practiced consistently, often have the greatest impact on our long-term health. Tell us below how you get your morning sunlight!
