🚨🇺🇸 WAITING YEARS FOR A VA APPEAL? HURRICANE ISAIAS COULD HELP MOVE YOUR CASE TO THE FRONT OF THE LINE! 🌪️
If you currently have a VA disability appeal pending before the Board of Veterans’ Appeals (BVA) and were impacted by Hurricane Isaias, you may qualify to have your appeal EXPEDITED!
Many veterans don't realize that the Board allows appeals to be moved forward through a process called Advancement on the Docket (AOD).
⏳ HOW LONG ARE VETERANS WAITING?
According to VA's published March 2026 figures, the average time appeals had already been pending was:
🔹 Hearing before a Veterans Law Judge: 870 days (approximately 2 years and 5 months)
🔹 Evidence Submission Appeal: 260 days (approximately 8.5 months)
🔹 Direct Review Appeal: 212 days (approximately 7 months)
These figures represent time already spent waiting, not guaranteed completion times.
🌪️ HOW DOES THE HURRICANE CHANGE THINGS?
VA specifically recognizes unusual hardship caused by natural disasters, including hurricanes, as a potential justification for expediting an appeal.
If Hurricane Isaias caused significant damage to your home, financial hardship, displacement, or other serious difficulties, you may qualify to request Advancement on the Docket.
✅ WHAT SHOULD YOU DO?
Submit a written request to the Board explaining how the hurricane has affected you, along with supporting documentation such as photographs, FEMA documentation, or a personal statement.
IMPORTANT: Living in a hurricane-impacted area does not automatically qualify you. The Board reviews each request individually based on documented hardship.
There are veterans who have been waiting years for their appeals to be heard. If this hurricane has created additional hardship, they deserve to know that an option for expedited consideration exists.
