From Periann: Hello, my name is Periann and this is the reason I am asking for your help.
I am in a wheelchair due to my neuromuscular disease named (Charcot Marie Tooth Disease) along with a rare genetic variant named (MCM3AP).
I wasn't always in this wheelchair , I was born with the ability to walk. Unfortunately, about 4 years ago this disease took that from me, and I am now totally wheelchair-bound.
I can no longer self-transfer from my wheelchair without the use of an electric lift. I am totally dependent on my wheelchair and my lift. I cannot travel in any vehicle that isn't wheelchair accessible.
I love to laugh and can’t resist a funny joke. I always wear a smile and adore meeting new people. I view the world as a beautiful place. I love to go to dances, even though I can't dance anymore . I love to journal, color, read, listen to music and attend church, as well as spending everyday with my best friend, Winter, who is my beloved dog.
I refuse to allow CMT or these Tourette's to rob me of these things . Having my own van would really bring life to my days. I would have the freedom to get back out into his beautiful creation and do some living !
