When we're young, we tend to accept people as they are. Understanding that people aren't always what they seem to be requires years of experience. As we become older, we realize that humans are more complicated than that.
Perhaps we are able to see through a friend's harsh attitude to the suffering she is hiding, or we recognise that a coworker's inappropriate laughter is an effort to hide social anxiety. We just understand one another better, and as a result, we improve our personal relations. As you become more aware of the energy and truth that people bring to the table, your ability to see vastly improves.
