There was a time when I wasn’t the devout Christian I am today. I didn’t yet understand how God was working in my life, but looking back, I can see His hand so clearly. He was reaching for me before I even realized I was reaching for Him. And somehow, He used moms and babies to do it. He gave me a heart for this work. He placed me beside women in some of the most vulnerable, exhausting, beautiful moments of their lives. I sat with mothers in tears. I watched them fight for their babies. I witnessed the incredible design of the mother-baby relationship over and over again, and somewhere along the way, this work became part of my testimony. That’s why learning about the Norbertine Canonesses and their “Motherhood Hour” touches me so deeply. While mothers are awake in dark rooms nursing, pumping, rocking babies, crying, praying, or simply trying to make it until morning, these sisters rise in the middle of the night to pray for us. There is something so beautiful about knowing that a mother who feels completely alone may be held in prayer by someone she has never met. When I walk into a mother’s home, I bring my education and clinical experience, but I also bring the heart God has shaped through this calling: to serve, to love, to encourage, and to care for the mother in front of me. I thought I was becoming a lactation consultant so I could help other moms. I didn’t know God would use those mamas to help lead me to Him. 🤍✝️ And that will forever be one of the most beautiful parts of my testimony.
