For someone with ARFID, the difference between American and Dutch pancakes may matter less in regard to nutrients and more in terms of texture, appearance, predictability, smell, and sensory experience.
American Pancakes:
Thick, fluffy, and soft
Sometimes stacked
Uniform texture
Often served plain with toppings added separately
Dutch Pancakes:
Thin and larger than American pancakes.
Slightly chewier texture.
Often contain toppings baked into the pancake
May have browned or crispy spots from cooking.
Someone with ARFID might:
Prefer American pancakes if they like soft, consistent textures and foods that look the same every time.
Prefer Dutch pancakes if they enjoy thinner foods similar to crepes or tortillas and find fluffy textures difficult.
