🔎 | SAME SYMPTOM. DIFFERENT STORY.

Two people can have the exact same symptom… and need completely different support.

Take fatigue.

Person #1 may be dealing with blood sugar instability.

Person #2 may have nutrient deficiencies.

Person #3 may have poor digestion and absorption.

Person #4 may be under significant stress with disrupted cortisol patterns.

Person #5 may have several of these happening at the SAME time. 😵‍💫

Same symptom.

Completely different story underneath it.

This is why I don’t want to simply ask:

“What can we take to make this symptom go away?”

I want to ask:

🔎 What systems aren’t functioning optimally?
🔎 Where are the deficiencies or imbalances?
🔎 What stressors are adding to the total load?
🔎 What does the DATA tell us that symptoms alone can’t?

Because your body isn’t a collection of separate parts.

It’s a network.

And sometimes the symptom screaming the loudest isn’t where the problem started.

That’s the detective work behind what I do as an FDN practitioner.

I’m not diagnosing or treating a specific disease.

I’m looking for patterns in normal function—and finding the places where your body may need support to get back toward balance.

Stop chasing the loudest symptom.

Start looking for the pattern. 🔎

THE SYMPTOM ISN’T ALWAYS THE SOURCE 🔎

One of the biggest mistakes we make in health?

We assume the place we FEEL the problem is the place the problem began.

Tired? → More caffeine.
Bloated? → Cut more foods.
Hormones off? → Fix the hormones.
Can’t lose weight? → Eat less.
Anxious? → Blame stress.

But your body isn’t a collection of separate systems.

It’s a network.

Your gut communicates with your immune system.
Your stress response affects your hormones.
Your minerals influence energy production.
Your liver and digestion influence how hormones are processed and eliminated.

And sometimes the symptom screaming the loudest is simply the downstream result of something that has been quietly dysfunctional for years.

That’s why I’m less interested in asking:

“How do we make this symptom go away?”

And more interested in asking:

“What changed in normal physiology that allowed this symptom to develop?” 🕵️‍♀️

That’s where functional testing becomes so valuable.

We can look for patterns in things like digestion, hormones, stress response, nutrient status, detoxification and inflammation—and begin identifying the gaps, deficiencies and imbalances that may be keeping the body from functioning the way it should.

We’re not chasing symptoms.

We’re following the clues. 🔎

And tomorrow, I want to show you why sometimes fixing ONE imbalance actually reveals another—and why that doesn’t necessarily mean you’re going backward.

COMMENT “CLUES” if you’re ready to learn how to start connecting the dots in your own health.

🔎 THE BODY LEAVES CLUES

Your body is talking to you all day long.

Fatigue.
Bloating.
Poor sleep.
Brain fog.
Hair loss.
Weight changes.
Anxiety.
Low motivation.
Hormone symptoms.

But here’s the tricky part…

The symptom isn’t always telling you where the problem is.

Think of it like a coded message.

The body is one interconnected system. Something happening in your gut can influence your hormones. Chronic stress can affect digestion, blood sugar, thyroid signaling, sleep and recovery. Nutrient deficiencies can show up in places that seem completely unrelated.

That’s why my job isn’t to diagnose a symptom and chase it.

My job is to investigate. 🕵️‍♀️

As an FDN practitioner, I look for the hidden gaps, deficiencies, stressors and imbalances in normal function that may be contributing to the patterns we’re seeing.

We combine your symptoms, history, lifestyle and functional testing and start connecting the dots.

And sometimes solving one piece reveals another.

That’s NORMAL.

I typically begin with a 90-day protocol, but I want to be very clear about something:

90 days isn’t necessarily the finish line. It’s the starting point.

If it took years for these patterns to develop, expecting everything to completely reverse in 90 days isn’t realistic.

For some people, the process may take six months. For others, a year or longer. We work layer by layer, adjusting as your body gives us new information.

And here’s one of the most important parts of working with me:

I don’t want you dependent on me forever.

My job is to lead you toward answers, guide you through the process and teach you what I’m seeing along the way.

I want YOU to learn your body.

To recognize the clues.

To understand when you’re drifting out of balance.

And to know which foundational steps can help you course-correct.

Because ultimately, your health belongs in your hands.

Over the next few weeks, I’m going to take you behind the scenes of how we investigate those clues—and some of the hidden imbalances I look for when something just doesn’t feel right.

Because sometimes the answer isn’t where the symptom is.

You just have to know where to look. 🔎

HABITS + YOUR HEALTH

We’ve spent this week talking about something I believe matters just as much as knowing what to do for your health:

Becoming the person who actually follows through.

Because information usually isn’t the problem.

Most of us know we should move our bodies. Eat more whole foods. Prioritize protein. Sleep. Manage stress. Drink the water. Put the phone down. 😏

But knowing and consistently doing are two very different things.

One of my favorite concepts from Atomic Habits is that your habits are essentially votes for the person you’re becoming.

So today, I have a challenge for you. 👇

✨ THE HABIT RANKING CHALLENGE

Take five minutes and write down the habits that make up your typical day. Then rank each one:

🟢 + This habit moves me toward the person I want to become.
🟡 = This habit is neutral.
🔴 – This habit moves me away from the person I want to become.

Don’t rank them based on whether they’re “good” or “bad.”

Rank them based on one question:

Does this habit support the identity—and the health—I say I want?

Maybe your morning walk gets a +.

Maybe scrolling in bed instead of sleeping gets a –.

Maybe prepping tomorrow’s protein gets a +.

Maybe running yourself into the ground because “rest feels unproductive” gets a big ol’ –. 😉

And here’s the important part:

You don’t need to fix every negative habit tomorrow.

Pick ONE.

Make the better choice a little easier. Make the old habit a little harder. Then repeat.

That’s how sustainable health is built—not through a massive Monday overhaul, but through small choices repeated often enough that they become part of who you are.

Your health isn’t created by one perfect day.

It’s built by the votes you cast every day.

👇 CHALLENGE: Rank your habits today, then tell me ONE habit you’re going to work on this week.

Don’t try to become a different person overnight. Start casting votes for them today. 💚

YOUR HABITS ARE DATA TOO.

We spend a lot of time talking about lab work around here—and you know I love good data. 😉🧪

But there’s another kind of data I want you paying attention to:

Your daily habits.

Because your body is constantly keeping score.

One night of bad sleep? Probably not a big deal.

One stressful day? Your body can handle it.

One missed workout? Completely irrelevant in the big picture.

But when those things become your normal, they start sending signals.

Poor sleep → elevated stress response
Under-fueling → poor recovery
Constant pushing → nervous system overload
Sedentary days → metabolic consequences
Processed foods on repeat → inflammation and blood sugar dysregulation

And eventually, those little patterns can start showing up in the bigger data—your symptoms, energy, hormones, glucose, digestion, body composition, and labs.

That’s why I love the Atomic Habits concept of casting votes.

Every small choice is a vote for the health you’re building.

Not because one salad will make you healthy.
Not because one workout will change your life.

But because what you repeatedly do becomes your physiology.

This is proactive health.

We don’t wait until the body is screaming to start paying attention.

We notice the patterns while they’re still whispers.

So this weekend, forget perfection.

Ask yourself:

What is ONE small habit I can repeat today that casts a vote for the healthier version of me? 💚

Small choices. Repeated often.
That’s where health is built.

YOU’RE COLLECTING EVIDENCE

All week we’ve talked about habits, mindset, and one of my favorite concepts from Atomic Habits:

Every action you take is a vote for the person you want to become.

But here’s where I think Type A people get this wrong. 🙋‍♀️

We’re REALLY good at noticing what we didn’t do.

The workout we missed.
The meal that wasn’t perfect.
The bedtime we ignored.
The supplements we forgot.
The thing still sitting on the to-do list.

And then we completely overlook the 27 things we DID do well. 😉

But your brain needs to see those wins.

Because every time you follow through—even in a tiny way—you’re collecting evidence:

➡️ I’m someone who takes care of my body.
➡️ I’m someone who keeps promises to myself.
➡️ I’m someone who prioritizes my health.
➡️ I’m someone who can do hard things consistently.

That evidence matters.

You don’t build confidence by waiting until you’ve reached the goal.

You build confidence by repeatedly proving to yourself that you are becoming the person who follows through.

And when you miss a vote?

You don’t throw away the whole election. 😉

You simply cast the next one.

So before you rush into the weekend thinking about everything you need to do better…

Tell me ONE win from this week.

Big. Small. Health-related or not.

Let’s collect some evidence. 💚

YOU DON’T NEED MORE MOTIVATION. YOU NEED LESS FRICTION.

We’ve been talking about Atomic Habits this week and becoming the person who actually follows through.

Here’s one of my favorite concepts:

Make the good habits easier. Make the habits you’re trying to change harder.

Because willpower is unreliable. Your environment? That’s working on you all day long.

Want to drink more water? 💧
Fill your bottle the night before and put it where you’ll see it.

Want to take your supplements consistently?
Stop hiding them in a cabinet you never open.

Want to eat more whole foods? 🥗
Wash, prep and put them at eye level—not buried behind three mystery containers. 😂

Want to work out in the morning?
Set out your clothes, shoes and equipment the night before.

Want to stop scrolling before bed? 📱
Charge your phone somewhere you can’t reach it from bed.

These things seem ridiculously small.

That’s the point.

We tend to think changing our health requires MORE discipline, MORE motivation and MORE effort.

Sometimes the smartest thing you can do is simply remove the friction.

Your environment is either making your healthy choices easier—or asking you to use willpower every single time.

And eventually, willpower gets tired.

So today, don’t overhaul your life.

Look around and ask:

“How can I make the healthy choice the EASY choice?”

Then change ONE thing.

Small vote.
Repeated often.
Different identity.

Because we’re not trying to occasionally do healthy things.

We’re becoming people who take care of our health automatically. 💚

👇 What’s ONE thing you could change in your environment today to make a healthy habit easier?

STOP MAKING HEALTH SO HARD

Want to know one of the easiest ways to make healthy habits stick?

Stop requiring yourself to make the same good decision over and over again.

We tend to think we need more motivation or discipline.

Most of the time, we need better systems.

Every decision you have to make costs a little mental energy:

What am I eating?
When am I working out?
When will I meal prep?
When am I going to bed?
When will I take my supplements?

Make enough decisions all day and eventually your brain says, Forget it. We’re ordering pizza. 😂

This is where the Atomic Habits concept of making good habits obvious and easy becomes so powerful.

Take some of the decisions OFF your plate:

✨ Put workouts on your calendar like appointments.
✨ Have 2–3 go-to breakfasts and lunches.
✨ Put supplements somewhere you’ll see them.
✨ Lay workout clothes out the night before.
✨ Attach a new habit to something you already do.

Want morning sunlight? Get outside while you drink your coffee.

Want to walk more? Walk for 10 minutes after lunch.

Want to improve sleep? Start your wind-down routine at the same time each night.

Healthy people aren’t necessarily more disciplined.

They’ve often just created an environment and routine where the healthier choice requires less thought.

That’s the goal.

Not relying on willpower every day.

Building a life where your habits start working FOR you.

Small systems. Repeated consistently. Big change over time.

What is ONE healthy decision you could automate this week? 👇

TUESDAY | STOP CHASING THE OUTCOME. CHANGE THE IDENTITY. 🧠

“I want to lose weight.”
“I want more energy.”
“I want better labs.”
“I want to feel like myself again.”

Those are goals.

But lasting change starts deeper.

One of my favorite lessons from Atomic Habits is that every action you take is a vote for the person you want to become.

So instead of:

❌ “I need to work out.”
➡️ “I’m someone who moves because I want to stay strong.”

❌ “I need to eat better.”
➡️ “I’m someone who fuels my body well.”

❌ “I need to get my health together.”
➡️ “I’m someone who pays attention to my body BEFORE it forces me to.”

And I believe there’s a spiritual piece here, too.

Taking care of your health is stewardship.
You’re caring for the body God gave you so you have the energy and strength to do what you’re called to do.

You don’t need a complete overhaul today.

You need one vote.

One walk. One better meal. One earlier bedtime. One boundary. One decision not to ignore the signals.

Small choices become habits.
Habits reinforce identity.
Identity changes the trajectory of your health.

That’s proactive health. 💚

👇 Finish this sentence:

“I am becoming someone who ______.”
