Grateful to have spent this past weekend learning from such incredible Pilates teachers.

Teachers need teachers.

The more I learn, the more I love this work, and the more I realize I want to keep learning even more.

Missed getting a picture with Erica Walters, who put this all together and has been such an important part of my Pilates education, but I am so thankful for the weekend and everyone who shared their knowledge.

Pilates is not just what you do in the studio.
It is what you take with you.

The work we do in a private Pilates lesson is meant to teach your body how to move with more awareness, control, strength, and support.

This is corrective exercise. It is not about rushing through a workout or making everything harder just for the sake of it. It is about seeing how the body moves, where it compensates, and what it needs to learn.

That work begins to show up outside the studio.

The way you stand.
The way you walk.
The way you sit, lift, reach, breathe, and carry yourself through everyday life.

That is the real goal.

Teaching the body to move better, so you can feel stronger and more connected in your life.

Thinking about starting Pilates but not sure what to expect?

At Karam Pilates, every new client begins with a clear starting point.

Your first session is an initial assessment, which is still a workout, but also gives me a chance to understand your history, goals, and how your body moves.

From there, we move into a welcome package of four private lessons. This gives us time to build a foundation, create consistency, and begin developing a plan that makes sense for your body.

We start with intention, build progressively, and create lasting change in how you move and feel.

I am giving this page a little refresh.

Many of you followed along here several years ago for health, wellness, and movement-related content. As my work has evolved, this space is now becoming the official page for Karam Pilates.

Karam Pilates is a private Pilates studio in Lexington, KY offering individualized Classical Pilates lessons using the full Pilates system, including the reformer, Cadillac, chairs, barrels, and more.

My work is rooted in the method of Joseph Pilates and guided by my background as a Physician Assistant. Every client begins with an initial assessment so I can better understand their history, goals, and how their body moves. From there, we build a structured plan for long-term strength, stability, and confidence.

I am so excited to share more of this work with you here.

My first quinoa flour experiment! 👏

Quinoa Zucchini Muffins

2 cups quinoa flour
1 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp baking soda
1/4 tsp salt
1 tbsp cinnamon

2 ripe bananas
1 large zucchini, grated and patted dry (about 2 cups)
1 individual cup unsweetened applesauce (about 1/3 cup)
2 eggs
1/2 cup honey
1 tsp vanilla

1/2 cup dark chocolate chips

Combine dry ingredients in large bowl. Place remaining ingredients (minus chocolate chips) in a blender (or use a mixer in a separate bowl). Add the banana mixture to dry mixture. Stir in chocolate chips.

Bake at 350 for 18-20 minutes

My devotion this morning was called “God is working while you wait.” I have been in a period of waiting for quite some time now. It seems like every time I think it’s almost over God says, “not yet.”
We live in a time where everything is “right now.” The world is so fast-paced, it is easy for us to forget that God does not work on our time.
“God wants us to learn how to follow him and put down our demanding selves—to calm that screaming child in is. One way he helps us do this is to say “Wait.” That miserable, uncomfortable, sometimes painful state of silence is one of God’s most powerful tools to set us free.”
I am a take-action kind of person so obviously I struggle with waiting. It is so tempting to take matters into my own hands. So what CAN we do during these times?
We can pray. More specifically, as my reading said, we can ask God to work on us two main things—humility and trust. Our life does not belong to us, God put us here and he calls the shots. We must trust and believe he has a plan.

I just made jam with chia seeds for the first time a few days ago and now I am not sure what I had been doing with my life before now.

It is super easy. I didn’t add sweetener but you could if you wanted. I read it freezes well too!

I had some ripe produce I wanted to use today and this is what I came up with! Trial run I am sure I will make adjustments next time but here is what I did:

Banana Zucchini Carrot Muffins

2 c. oat flour
1/2 c. ground flax
2 tbsp cinnamon
1/2 tsp ginger
1/2 tsp nutmeg
2 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp salt
4 packets stevia

2 eggs
2 large bananas
1/2 c. unsweetened applesauce
2 c. zucchini (grated)
2 c. carrots (peeled and grated)

Combine dry ingredients in a large bowl.

In a separate bowl (I used a blender), combine banana, eggs, and applesauce. Add bowl with dry ingredients. Stir to combine. Add zucchini and carrots. Stir.

Bake at 375 for 18-22 minutes.

*make sure to dry zucchini with a paper towel (it holds a lot of water)
*I will probably throw some spinach in next time...why not 🤷‍♀️
*this made 12 regular muffins and about 10 mini muffins
