The U.S. teen birth rate dropped another 7% in 2025, continuing a decades-long decline, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. About 126,000 babies were born to mothers ages 15–19, with the rate falling dramatically from 61.8 births per 1,000 teens in 1991 to just 11.7 today. Overall U.S. birth rates also dipped slightly, while cesarean deliveries reached their highest level since 2013.

Experts say the decline is likely driven by lower teen pregnancy rates, increased contraception use, reduced s*xual activity, and access to abortion care. While many view the trend as positive, researchers stress the importance of continuing support for teen parents, noting that outcomes often depend more on societal support systems than age alone.

Eric Swalwell has suspended his campaign for California governor after facing s*xual assault and misconduct allegations that rapidly derailed his bid. Although he denies the claims and says he will fight them personally, the controversy led to a swift loss of political support, with key allies, endorsers, and staff distancing themselves or calling for him to drop out.

His exit significantly reshapes an already crowded and uncertain race, removing a top-tier Democratic contender and potentially shifting dynamics ahead of the primary. The situation also adds pressure on his position in Congress, where he now faces additional scrutiny as investigations into the allegations continue.

Hundreds of thousands of women have left the U.S. workforce in 2025, often not by choice but because caregiving demands and workplace rigidity made staying untenable. Bureau of Labor Statistics data shows roughly 455,000 women exited between January and August. According to nonprofit Catalyst, caregiving responsibilities were the top driver, cited by 42% of women who quit, followed by low pay. Rising child care costs, return-to-office mandates, and reduced flexibility have made it increasingly difficult for mothers to balance work and family.
Many say they’re not “opting out,” but being pushed out by systems that don’t accommodate caregiving realities.

Layoffs are compounding the problem: 43% of women surveyed by Catalyst reported being let go, with women of color disproportionately affected. Advocates say employers risk damaging their talent and leadership pipelines if they don’t respond. Experts recommend three key steps: offer schedule flexibility, provide tangible caregiving support (like child care resources and paid leave), and conduct regular audits to ensure fair pay and career growth. The takeaway is clear—retaining working mothers isn’t just about individual resilience; it requires structural workplace support.

Rainy days can affect mood by disrupting key brain chemicals like serotonin and melatonin, which help regulate energy, sleep, and emotional balance. This can lead to lower motivation, fatigue, and even feelings of sadness or anxiety—especially when cloudy weather persists. However, not everyone experiences rain the same way; for some, it can feel calming and restorative, while for others it may amplify existing stress or loneliness.

Experts suggest leaning into gentle, mood-supporting habits to counter these effects. Engaging in indoor hobbies, staying socially connected, maintaining routines, and getting some natural light—even briefly—can help stabilize your mood. Movement, cooking, and reframing rain as a peaceful, slower-paced opportunity can also boost emotional well-being. Small, intentional shifts in how you spend rainy days can turn them from draining to restorative.

Beans are a nutrient-dense, affordable food packed with protein, fiber, and key minerals like magnesium, potassium, and iron. Eating them regularly can support digestion, stabilize energy levels, and help you feel fuller longer due to their fiber and protein content. Over time, they may also contribute to improved gut health, lower cholesterol, and reduced inflammation—benefits that can even show up in things like clearer skin and fewer body aches.

That said, the effects aren’t instant. Some people may initially experience bloating, especially if they’re not used to a high-fiber diet, but this typically improves as the body adjusts. Overall, experts emphasize that beans aren’t a quick fix—but consistently including them in your diet can lead to meaningful, long-term health benefits.

Over the weekend, we had the pleasure of sharing space with psychologist and s*x therapist Dr. Arlene Goldman at . We talked perimenopause, intimacy, connection, and the importance of P-A-S-S-I-O-N—Play, Acceptance, Sensation, Seduction, Intuition, Openness, and Natural—and really opened up.

We asked questions, shared stories, and offered each other advice—everything from kinks and p**n habits to prioritizing self-care and dating your partner (child-free!).

A few things I jotted down during the session (and while reading Come As You Are: The Surprising New Science That Will Transform Your S*x Life by Emily Nagoski):

It takes energy, not work, to maintain a healthy s*x life.

Focus on pleasure, not performance.

Desire thrives when you’re not overwhelmed or exhausted.

The correct term for the external female genitalia is “vulva”—the va**na is internal. (Humbled to admit I learned this late, but sharing anyway.)

Your brain has a s*xual accelerator (what turns you on) and s*xual brakes (what shuts things down). Both matter.

If you have questions, my DMs are open. (Dr. Goldman is also accepting new clients in Philly. I can share her info if you’re interested.)

And if you’re looking for a safe, inclusive community of women who show up for one another—and yes, talk about s*x—join us.
