if you’ve ever read Braiding Sweetgrass, you know the story of Sky Woman

the woman who fell from the sky carrying seeds in her hands. and as she fell, the animals gathered beneath her, understanding instinctively that she could not survive alone. the birds lifted her. the turtle offered his back. the animals dove deep into the water searching for earth so that new life could begin.

there is something deeply moving about the idea that the world begins not through domination, but through care. through cooperation & creation rooted in relationship to the earth and to one another.

with mother’s day around the corner, we’re thinking about the women who hold so much. the ones who create, tend, nourish, grieve, guide, soften, and continue loving despite the weight they often carry so honorably.
