There is something so powerful about keeping a semblance of your routines up while traveling~ aiding in grounding, centering, & stabilizing.
Although I was just back home visiting family, I was still away from my regular studios, gym, movement & mindfulness routines...

& while barre3 is a chain, I had never been && I'm so glad I got to check it out with a friend this past weekend. ๐Ÿ‘ญ thanks for letting me be your guest โœจ๏ธ

While I've always appreciated the mind/body/soul approach of yoga, it's only made sense to move on to my masters in clinical mental health counseling & begin to fuse my yoga therapy work with the mental health work of talk therapy.

Yoga Sutra 1.2 says yoga citta vritti nirodhah, roughing translating to: yoga is stilling & mastering the thought waves of the mind.
Each somatic release, each regulatory moment, each pause of awareness, we are able to see things more clearly.... surf the highs & lows of the waves in life, versus getting dragged out to sea..
Seeing cleary through the smoke & haze of the spiraling "monkey mind."

This past week coming off of Mother's Day, I've been offering the intention in my yoga classes to connect with mother Earth through energetic elemental qualities within ourselves...
The root chakra, tied to the earth element, is that which makes us feel safe, steady, calm stable.... when the heart beat slows & the feet are firmly planted.
The sacral chakra, tied to the element of water, is that which helps us flow effortlessly from one thing to the next, playfully, joyfully, fluidly... when we flow from one shape to the next, or get creative in our movement.
The solar plexus chakra, tied to the element of fire, is that which ignites our inner flame, gets us going, lights us up inside, & spurs on purpose & confidence... when we challenge ourselves to stay a little longer in a challenging posture.
The heart chakra, tied to the element of air, is that which makes us feel lighter, free, & expanded... that which makes us feel like we can breathe... when we lean into what opens our hearts & makes us feel alive.
The throat chakra, tied to the element of ether, is that which aids in self expression & communication... when we develop pathways to convey our needs or interests.
The thrid eye, tied to the element of light, is that which allows us to see things more clearly... when we see with more clarity & less subjectivity.
Finally, the crown, whether you debate it ties to consciousness, it's that which connects us to whatever is greater than ourselves... when we can fully step back into the seat of the witness.

While both yoga and psychology encourage us to honor our lineages, noting the importance of knowing where certain practices originated & valuing that as a way to foster a greater sense of identity, it can be hard to spot in our modern world if we don't intentionally take a close look at it.
So today (and this month really), I am paying special attention to the Irish in me, both through the perspective of St. Patrick's Day & Irish heritage month.
My Papa passed away on St. Patrick's Day two years ago, & some joke this wasn't a coincidence due to his appreciation for the day.
I carry this blessing (picture #2) from his service in my wallet & I think it speaks a lot about him as a person & the Irish culture.

While the Irish in one sense may not be seen as very fortunate, having been known for fleeing to America during the potato famine, they never stopped looking at this bright side, wishing others well, & seeing the good in an otherwise challenging situation.
Somehow, they are still known for their luck..

They are truly a glass half full type of community.
To cope, the Irish are known to lean towards humor, faith, & community as top mechanisms, and I'd say that aligns for me as well.
My grandfather in particular, was one of the funniest people I knew.
Sometimes laughter is the greatest medicine. Sometimes seeing the hope for the future, the good amidst in the bad, or the silver lining of a situation, is what gets us through.

While St. Patrick was credited for explaining the trinity through the symbol of the shamrock, it was said to bring protection in that sense, through faith, hope, & love.
Interestingly, long before St. Patrick, the Irish saw the shamrock as a symbol of luck, protection, & a way to ward off evil.

Whatever you believe, I am wishing you love & fortune on this day;
May the sun shine warm upon your face...

Abundance is the energy of having enough, feeling supported, taken care of and fulfilled. With an abundance mindset, we attract more of what we desire and appreciate what we already have. If you're stuck in a feeling of lack or wanting more of anything in your life (material things, love, connection, etc), this workshop is for you.

Courtney will take you through a light movement and breathwork sequence before guiding you on your meditation journey to abundance. She'll lead you through journaling techniques and guided meditations to help you cultivate more abundance in your life.

How to prepare:
Please dress in comfortable clothes for light movement, bring a journal, pen, and water. Your own yoga mat is encouraged.
