Most athletes fear pushing too hard.

The real risk? Accepting “good enough.”

Your body was built for more than you’re asking of it. Don’t settle for managing pain. Demand full function.

Don’t settle for getting through the season. Demand peak performance.

You were designed for greatness. Let’s make sure your body can keep up with that vision. 👊

Over the last few years, many of you have prayed for, supported, encouraged, and given generously to help carry Sam Hodus and his family through his battle with ALS.

We’re saddened to share that Sam passed away.

It’s hard to put into words what a loss this is.

Sam dedicated his life to helping people heal. As a physical therapist, he was dedicated to helping others overcome pain, recover from injury, move better, and get back to living the lives they loved.

He cared deeply about people, and you could feel that in the way he showed up for them.

Even after his ALS diagnosis in 2024, Sam continued to live with incredible courage and perspective. His story raised awareness, encourage others, and reminded people not to take life, health, or time for granted.

He was deeply loved because he loved deeply.

Husband to Mary. Proud father to Obi.
A son, a brother, a friend, and someone who genuinely made people better simply by being around him.

Sam’s life reminds us how fragile and precious life really is.

The ability to wake up healthy, move our bodies, hug the people we love, laugh together, and simply have another day is a gift we often don’t fully appreciate until we’re reminded how quickly things can change.

And through it all, Sam continued to show strength, gratitude, humility, and care for others.

His impact will live on in the countless people he treated, encouraged, inspired, and loved.

As Mary and Obi walk through the unimaginable in this next season, we’d love to continue surrounding them with support, generosity, and prayer.

If you feel led to help care for their family, we encourage you to continue giving and supporting them however you can. gofund.me/9a4c4e16d

Rest easy, Sam. Your life mattered deeply, and we’ll make sure your story and your mission live on. 💙

Back pain is rarely just about “something being out of place.” 👀

What science actually shows us is that back pain is influenced by a mix of factors:
🧠 Stress + emotions
💤 Sleep + recovery
🏋️ Activity levels + load management
🧬 Previous experiences + beliefs
🌎 Lifestyle, social, and environmental factors
…and yes, physical tissue health too.

That’s why the best approach to recovery usually isn’t chasing a quick fix — it’s building a plan that meets you where you’re at and looks at the bigger picture. 🤝

The goal isn’t just to feel better temporarily.
It’s to help you move, train, work, and live with more confidence long term. 💪

That voice gets loud when fatigue sets in.

When your stride breaks down.

When your nervous system starts looking for the exit ramp.

But performance isn’t built by avoiding discomfort. It’s built by increasing your capacity to stay composed inside it.

The athletes who improve aren’t always the most talented. They’re the ones who can regulate effort, maintain mechanics under fatigue, and keep moving when the brain starts throwing caution signals.

Your body adapts to the stress you repeatedly tolerate.

Your mind does too.

Keep training both. And ! 👏

You did it! 🎉⁣

To everyone who ran the Broad Street Run, whether it was your first mile or your fastest finish, this is what happens when people decide to move.⁣

Not just physically, but forward. Together.⁣

There’s something powerful about thousands of people chasing the same finish line. ⁣

The energy. ⁣
The grit. ⁣
The push when your legs want to quit. ⁣

That kind of environment doesn’t just get you through a race, it reminds you what you’re capable of.⁣

Movement isn’t just about performance.⁣

It’s about momentum.⁣
It’s about community.⁣
It’s about becoming.⁣

Today proved it. ⁣
You have so much to be proud of! ⁣

Keep moving. 💪⁣

The Part of Rehab We Don’t Talk About Enough 🧠💪

Injuries don’t just challenge your body — they challenge your confidence, patience, identity, and trust in movement.

Rehab isn’t always a straight line, and that’s normal.

Progress often looks like:
✅ Good days and frustrating days
✅ Rebuilding trust in your body
✅ Learning how to train around symptoms
✅ Gradually restoring capacity, strength, and confidence

The goal isn’t just to “fix the injury.”

It’s to help you feel confident moving, training, and getting back to the things you care about.

Most people don’t realize that Vincent Van Gogh he sold one painting in his lifetime.

One.

But his value didn’t start when people noticed.
It was always there.

Same goes for you.

Progress in rehab, performance, or life doesn’t always look impressive early on. It can feel slow, unnoticed, even frustrating. But just because something looks like “grass” doesn’t mean it isn’t wheat.

The work you’re putting in right now:
the consistency, the discipline, the reps…
it matters before anyone else sees it.

At Movement Medicine, we’re not just chasing outcomes.
We’re building something that lasts.

Stay with it. 🌱
