Over the last few years, many of you have prayed for, supported, encouraged, and given generously to help carry Sam Hodus and his family through his battle with ALS.
We’re saddened to share that Sam passed away.
It’s hard to put into words what a loss this is.
Sam dedicated his life to helping people heal. As a physical therapist, he was dedicated to helping others overcome pain, recover from injury, move better, and get back to living the lives they loved.
He cared deeply about people, and you could feel that in the way he showed up for them.
Even after his ALS diagnosis in 2024, Sam continued to live with incredible courage and perspective. His story raised awareness, encourage others, and reminded people not to take life, health, or time for granted.
He was deeply loved because he loved deeply.
Husband to Mary. Proud father to Obi.
A son, a brother, a friend, and someone who genuinely made people better simply by being around him.
Sam’s life reminds us how fragile and precious life really is.
The ability to wake up healthy, move our bodies, hug the people we love, laugh together, and simply have another day is a gift we often don’t fully appreciate until we’re reminded how quickly things can change.
And through it all, Sam continued to show strength, gratitude, humility, and care for others.
His impact will live on in the countless people he treated, encouraged, inspired, and loved.
As Mary and Obi walk through the unimaginable in this next season, we’d love to continue surrounding them with support, generosity, and prayer.
If you feel led to help care for their family, we encourage you to continue giving and supporting them however you can. gofund.me/9a4c4e16d
Rest easy, Sam. Your life mattered deeply, and we’ll make sure your story and your mission live on. 💙
