Today is World Dense Breast Day. Dense breast tissue is common and normal, but it can make it more difficult for mammograms to detect breast cancer and may be associated with an increased risk of developing the disease.

Understanding your breast density can help you have informed conversations with your healthcare provider about your personal risk factors and whether additional screening options may be right for you:

Ask about your breast density
Know your risk factors
Stay up to date with recommended screenings
Talk to your doctor about the best screening plan for you
